ABUJA - Global Diplomacy Impact (GDI), an international diplomacy and leadership training academy, is set to graduate its inaugural cohort of students tomorrow, October 17, 2026, as the institution advances its commitment to developing emerging leaders for meaningful engagement in global affairs.
The founder of GDI, Ambassador Favour Nso Chinyere, disclosed this to Newsway Reporters, describing the forthcoming graduation as an important milestone in the academy's mission to equip aspiring diplomats, young leaders and professionals with the requisite knowledge and skills for effective participation in international relations and diplomacy.
According to Nso Chinyere, GDI is dedicated to providing practical training in diplomacy, international relations, leadership, negotiation, peacebuilding and sustainable development, with the objective of preparing participants to contribute meaningfully to their communities, nations and the international community.
She explained that the academy seeks to nurture a new generation of informed, confident and responsible global leaders capable of navigating complex international issues, promoting constructive dialogue and fostering cooperation across cultural and national boundaries.
The GDI founder further highlighted the institution's commitment to promoting the African Union's development agenda and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasising the importance of aligning leadership development with continental aspirations and global sustainable development priorities.
She also underscored the importance of youth participation in international cooperation and global decision-making, noting that equipping young people with diplomatic knowledge and leadership competencies would strengthen their capacity to contribute to policy discussions and international partnerships.
The inaugural graduation ceremony is expected to celebrate the achievements of GDI's first generation of students and underscore the growing importance of professional training in diplomacy, international relations and global governance. The event also represents a significant step in the academy's efforts to expand access to leadership education and diplomatic capacity-building.
As preparations for the ceremony conclude, GDI remains focused on developing competent and responsible leaders committed to peacebuilding, international collaboration and sustainable development, with the broader ambition of strengthening Africa's participation in global affairs.
