Kuje Danlami Alaphu Urges Nigerian Youth to Take Charge of Their Future at Mentorship Conference

ABUJA — A momentous gathering of youth leaders, industry stakeholders, policymakers, and development advocates took place on Thursday at the illustrious National Merit Award House, Maitama, where Kuje Danlami Alaphu, Managing Director of Alewa Akawu Facility Company, delivered a compelling address on behalf of Amb. Dr. Alewa Akawu Nasiru (FDMSS, FCCP, FCISM, FICA), Board Chairman of the Nigerian Youth Mentorship and Entrepreneurship Development Forum.

The high-level forum, dedicated to advancing youth mentorship and entrepreneurship, brought together a broad coalition of influencers and decision-makers committed to shaping a sustainable and innovative future for Nigerian youth. The atmosphere was charged with optimism as participants examined national priorities around innovation, leadership, and the economic repositioning of young people.

Alaphu, delivering the Chairman’s message, issued a strong call for Nigerian youths to take responsibility for their future, stressing that success is not inherited but earned through intentional effort.
He reminded the youths that “the key to success is in their own hands,” urging them to define their purpose early, sharpen their skills, and take decisive action rather than depending on political promises or allowing themselves to be misled by opportunistic politicians.

“Youth participation in politics is good,” he noted, “but young people must never hinge their entire destiny on the words of any politician. Purpose, skill, and action remain the true engines of progress.”

Representing the Forum Chairman, Alaphu commended the Tinubu administration for its improving efforts in national security — a foundation he described as essential for economic activity, enterprise growth, and social stability across communities.

He went on to highlight the remarkable growth and impact of Alewa Akawu Facility Company, revealing that the organization now operates with about 300 staff members. According to him, the company stands as a practical model of what can be achieved through structured mentorship, enterprise discipline, and visionary leadership.

“Alewa’s facility is ready to shape the destiny of this nation,” he declared, noting that the company’s expanding operations, training platforms, and youth development frameworks are strategically designed to equip young Nigerians with the skills required for modern economic realities.

The event featured panel discussions and leadership reflections from invited experts who unanimously agreed that sustainable youth empowerment requires stronger collaboration between government agencies, private sector leaders, academic institutions, and civic organizations. Many participants pledged support for expanding mentorship clusters, youth enterprise incubation centres, and national capacity-building programmes.

Alaphu further encouraged stakeholders to deepen partnerships that strengthen enterprise incubation and broaden access-to-market opportunities for young entrepreneurs. He emphasized that Nigeria’s future prosperity will be determined not by natural resources but by innovative, disciplined, and purpose-driven youth.

Participants widely welcomed the Chairman’s message, describing it as timely and aligned with Nigeria’s urgent development priorities. Several stakeholders expressed readiness to partner with the Forum and with Alewa Akawu Facility Company to scale youth-focused interventions across the country.

Analysts say the address — delivered with clarity, leadership insight, and entrepreneurial precision — signals a renewed commitment to building a generation of young Nigerians who will define their own path and contribute meaningfully to national transformation.

The roundtable at National Merit House was widely regarded as a strategic milestone in repositioning Nigerian youth as central drivers of national development. With Amb. Dr. Nasiru’s leadership and Alaphu’s articulate delivery, the Forum is setting a new benchmark for youth-oriented national strategy.
