ABUJA — Ugonne Wunyi, a development professional, has received the Fellowship Award of the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management (CIISM), in recognition of her professional contribution and commitment to development-focused practice.

Wunyi was inducted as a Fellow of the Institute on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Murjanatu House, 1st Zambezi Crescent, Maitama, Abuja, during CIISM’s Executive Strategic Master Class and Fellowship induction ceremony.

The ceremony brought together professionals and practitioners from diverse sectors, with the Institute using the occasion to promote strategic competence, professional excellence and continuous capacity development in information and strategy management.

The Fellowship conferred on Wunyi the professional designation FCISM, formally admitting her into the Fellowship grade of CIISM in accordance with the Institute’s professional requirements and by-laws.

As a development professional, Wunyi’s induction reflects the growing importance of strategic management competencies in development practice, particularly in areas requiring effective planning, stakeholder engagement, information management, institutional coordination and sustainable programme outcomes.

The Fellowship induction was held alongside the CIISM Executive Strategic Master Class themed “The Strategic Manager: Mastering Formulation, Implementation & Control.” The programme focused on strategy formulation, implementation, performance evaluation, governance, accountability and ethical leadership.

Speaking during the masterclass, CIISM Registrar, Dr. Adelanke Oyintoke, DECISM, ACA, MNIM, FCE, ACIA, emphasised the importance of information in organisational success, noting that strategy was a continuous process and that some strategies failed at the implementation stage.

Also speaking, Dr. Rotimi Mathew of Mentoring and Coaching Nigeria, Abuja, presented the Rotimi Strategic Leadership Framework: “Leading with Strategy,” urging participants to recognise reality and required results, outline strategic direction, translate priorities into action, inspire and integrate people, measure performance and manage risk, as well as improve, innovate and institutionalise effective practices.

Wunyi’s admission into the Fellowship marks another professional milestone in her development career, while her new FCISM designation provides an additional professional platform for applying strategic management principles to development practice and organisational advancement. Participants at the masterclass also left with renewed resolve to translate the knowledge and practical skills acquired into measurable results within their respective organisations and professional fields.
