Olorunmo Jonathan, Inducted as CIISM Fellow in Abuja

ABUJA — Olorunmo Jonathan, a civil servant, has been inducted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management (CIISM), with the recognition coming against the backdrop of growing emphasis on strategic capacity, effective policy implementation and improved service delivery in the public sector.

Jonathan was inducted on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Murjanatu House, 1st Zambezi Crescent, Maitama, Abuja, during CIISM’s Executive Strategic Master Class and Fellowship induction ceremony, which brought together professionals and practitioners from different sectors.

The Fellowship recognises professionals who have satisfied the Institute’s requirements for admission to its Fellowship grade. Jonathan joined other professionals inducted at the ceremony, as CIISM promoted continuous learning and professional competence in information and strategic management.

The conferment entitles Jonathan to use the professional designation FCISM, signifying his admission to the Fellowship grade in accordance with the Institute’s by-laws and professional standards.

His induction carries particular relevance to the civil service, where the effective use of information, strategic planning, institutional coordination and performance management are important to translating government policies and programmes into practical outcomes for citizens.

The significance of the Fellowship was further underscored by the CIISM Executive Strategic Master Class, themed “The Strategic Manager: Mastering Formulation, Implementation & Control.” The programme examined the processes required to formulate sound strategies, translate priorities into action, monitor performance and adapt to emerging challenges—competencies applicable to both public and private-sector management.

Speaking during the masterclass, CIISM Registrar, Dr. Adelanke Oyintoke, DECISM, ACA, MNIM, FCE, ACIA, stressed that strategy was a continuous process and that organisations could not achieve sustainable success without timely and relevant information. He also noted that some strategies failed at the implementation stage and emphasised the importance of appropriate organisational structures.

Also speaking, Dr. Rotimi Mathew of Mentoring and Coaching Nigeria, Abuja, presented the Rotimi Strategic Leadership Framework: “Leading with Strategy,” urging participants to recognise reality and required results, outline strategic direction, translate priorities into action, inspire and integrate people, measure performance and manage risk, as well as improve, innovate and institutionalise effective practices.

Jonathan’s induction highlights the role of continuous professional development in strengthening the capacity of civil servants to support effective administration. The masterclass, meanwhile, provided a practical framework for linking strategic thinking with execution, accountability and measurable performance—key considerations in converting government priorities into effective programmes and improved public service delivery.
