ABUJA — Dr. Maryam Danna Mohammed, FCISM, a distinguished finance, audit, assurance and risk-management professional with over three decades of multidisciplinary experience, has been elevated to the Fellowship cadre of the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management (CIISM), further accentuating a career defined by strategic leadership, financial stewardship, enterprise risk governance and institutional assurance.
Mohammed was inducted on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Murjanatu House, 1st Zambezi Crescent, Maitama, Abuja, during CIISM’s Executive Strategic Master Class and Fellowship Induction Ceremony, which convened senior professionals, executives and practitioners for high-level discourse on strategic management, organisational leadership and performance optimisation.
Her elevation to the Fellowship grade followed the fulfilment of CIISM’s prescribed professional requirements and was conferred in accordance with the Institute’s established by-laws and professional standards. The distinction formally qualifies her to use the designation FCISM, placing her within the Institute’s senior professional fellowship and further reinforcing her credentials in information and strategy management.
Fondly addressed as “Madam Danna,” Mohammed brings to the Fellowship more than three decades of professional exposure across finance, enterprise risk management, information systems audit, assurance, internal control and investigative engagements. Her career has been characterised by the application of professional judgement, analytical rigour and governance principles to complex financial and organisational environments.
Her competency architecture spans strategic leadership, risk management, assurance, auditing and internal control, information systems auditing, investigations, financial due diligence, policy implementation, planning and organisational management, as well as the application of GAAP and IFRS, taxation, data science and business analytics. She also possesses extensive competencies in stakeholder management, relationship building, team leadership, performance management and strategic communication.
The breadth of her professional repertoire reflects the contemporary evolution of the finance and assurance profession from conventional financial reporting towards integrated governance, risk and compliance frameworks. Her experience across audit, control systems, financial due diligence and information-system assurance positions her at the intersection of financial integrity, technology, risk intelligence and executive decision-making—areas increasingly central to institutional resilience and sustainable value creation.
The Fellowship induction was held against the backdrop of CIISM’s Executive Strategic Master Class, themed “The Strategic Manager: Mastering Formulation, Implementation & Control,” which interrogated the strategic architecture of formulation, execution, performance evaluation, governance, accountability and adaptive leadership. The programme reinforced the imperative of moving beyond strategy conception to disciplined implementation and measurable institutional outcomes.
Speaking during the masterclass, CIISM Registrar, Dr. Adelanke Oyintoke, DECISM, ACA, MNIM, FCE, ACIA, underscored the strategic indispensability of timely, accurate and relevant information to organisational success. He further emphasised the importance of coherent organisational structures, clearly delineated responsibilities, effective reporting lines and disciplined execution in converting strategic intent into sustainable performance.
Also speaking, Dr. Rotimi Mathew of Mentoring and Coaching Nigeria, Abuja, highlighted discipline, strategic direction, performance measurement, risk management, innovation and continuous institutional improvement as critical components of effective leadership. Against this professional backdrop, Mohammed’s admission into the CIISM Fellowship constitutes a significant addition to an already extensive career portfolio, further consolidating her positioning at the convergence of finance, assurance, strategic intelligence, risk governance, internal control and organisational performance.
Her elevation exemplifies the value of continuous professional advancement in equipping senior professionals to navigate increasingly complex institutional, financial and technological landscapes.
