Accolades as Pastor Oke Samuel Emerges IAWPA Eminent Peace Ambassador

ABUJA — Accolades have continued to trail the emergence of Pastor Oke Samuel, Chief Executive Officer of Sheltering Home Humanitarian Initiative, as an Eminent Peace Ambassador of the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA), in recognition of his humanitarian leadership, service to vulnerable people and commitment to peacebuilding, community development and social cohesion.

The prestigious recognition was conferred in Abuja during the National Stakeholders’ Security Dialogue organised to commemorate the United Nations International Day of Police Cooperation. The high-level gathering brought together stakeholders from government, security agencies, civil society organisations and other critical sectors of society to strengthen collaboration and explore practical approaches to promoting peace and security.

Held under the theme, “Policing for Peace: Building Synergy for a Safer Nigeria,” the dialogue provided a strategic platform for discussions on institutional cooperation, community engagement, dialogue and collective action towards addressing security challenges and building a safer and more peaceful Nigeria.

IAWPA said its Eminent Peace Ambassador recognition is designed to honour individuals whose leadership, service and societal contributions demonstrate measurable impact and align with broader global priorities on peace, human development and sustainable development, including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The Association stressed that the recognition is based on merit and is intended to acknowledge substantive contributions to society rather than ceremonial participation or affiliation. Pastor Oke Samuel’s emergence, therefore, highlights the growing importance of humanitarian leadership in addressing social vulnerabilities and creating pathways for peaceful coexistence.

Pastor Oke Samuel has continued to represent the humanitarian dimension of peacebuilding, with his leadership platform providing an avenue for supporting people in need and advancing values centred on compassion, dignity, inclusion and social responsibility.

His recognition also underscores the connection between humanitarian intervention and peace. By addressing the needs of vulnerable members of society and promoting community support, humanitarian initiatives can contribute to reducing social exclusion, strengthening community resilience and creating an environment conducive to dialogue, unity and peaceful coexistence.

The honour places Pastor Oke Samuel among personalities recognised by IAWPA for leadership and contributions considered relevant to peacebuilding, responsible citizenship and sustainable development. Speaking on the recognition, Pastor Oke Samuel expressed appreciation to IAWPA, describing the honour as both a privilege and a renewed responsibility to deepen his commitment to humanitarian service, peace, unity and positive societal transformation.

IAWPA International Spokesman, Ambassador Dr. Emmanuel Nkweke, said the stakeholders’ dialogue was designed to strengthen peace, security and sustainable development through advocacy, diplomacy and strategic partnerships among government institutions, security agencies, civil society organisations and community stakeholders. 

 IAWPA International Director, Prof. Chidi Ehiriodo, congratulated Pastor Oke Samuel on the recognition and urged him to continue deploying his humanitarian leadership and influence in support of peacebuilding, social stability and sustainable development in Nigeria.
