Governor Ahmad Aliyu Receives Security Consciousness Award
Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu has been conferred with the "Best Security Conscious Governor of the Year 2024".
Governor Ahmad Aliyu was honoured at a Security Conference and Awards ceremony organized by the International Institute of Professional Security (IIPS), held on Saturday at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.
According to Dr. Tony Ofoyetan, the Director-General of the International Institute of Professional Security (IIPS), the award was presented to Governor Ahmad Aliyu in recognition of the governor's outstanding contributions to enhancing security across the state.
The Director General lauded Governor Aliyu's administration for its innovative and proactive approaches to security, particularly in addressing communal conflicts, curbing crime rates, and fostering peace in Sokoto State.
Newsway Media gathered that, the prestigious award was bestowed on Governor Ahmad Aliyu for his proactive stance on collective security measures and his efforts to foster collaboration among various security agencies to combat crime and ensure the safety of citizens.
His exceptional leadership and innovative strategies in improving security and providing humanitarian aid in some of the affected local government Area in the state. Also, his dedication to maintaining peace and security while implementing comprehensive humanitarian initiatives to support vulnerable communities.
The Special Adviser to Governor on Security, Hon. Ahmed Abdul Usman, while receiving the award on behalf of Governor Ahmad Aliyu, expressed gratitude to the organizers for recognizing the Governor's efforts in ensuring the safety of citizens and properties in Sokoto State.
Hon. Ahmed Usman also reaffirmed the Governor Aliyu administration's commitment to implementing strong security measures to maintain peace and stability in the state.
"He expressed his pride in the award, stating that it was a testament to the state's leadership's collaborative efforts in prioritizing its people's welfare and security
"He said , Sokoto state has prioritize security as key aspect of governance by making significant strides, in terms of effective collaboration with agencies, traditional rulers, and community leaders towards curtailing insecurity in the state
"He maintained that, operational vehicles (Toyota Hilux) and motorcycles were purchased and allocated for security agencies in the state. Also, the purchased of 700 Units of operational Motorcycles to Vigilante Groups which helped in rescuing many kidnapped victims of the affected local government in the state.
The establishment of sokoto state Community Guard corps who are now deployed to the 13 volatile local government Area to assist conventional troops with intelligence gathering.
Moreso, regular security council meeting, engaging both the Community, Traditional and religious institutions leaders in addressing security challenges.
noted that the award was in recognition of the governor’s unparalleled and huge investments in security, which had positioned Sokoto state as one of the safest states in the country.
attributed the successes achieved in security in the state to strategic thinking, people mobilisation and intelligent team selection, which brought professionals together in a favourable working environment.
