Muslim world League Conference: Sheikh Dalha Abubakar Calls for Unity, Justice to Defeat Insecurity

ABUJA — Sheikh Dalha Abubakar has called for greater unity, cooperation, justice and mutual understanding among Nigerians as part of efforts to defeat insecurity and promote peace and stability across the country.

Abubakar made the call while speaking with NEWSWAY AFRICA reporters on the sidelines of the International Conference on Security for Sustainable Socio-economic Development, held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.

He said the conference provided an important platform for Islamic scholars, traditional rulers, government officials, interfaith leaders and other stakeholders to exchange ideas and seek practical solutions to the security and socio-economic challenges confronting Nigeria.

The conference was organised by the Muslim World League (MWL) in collaboration with Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS Nigeria) under the leadership of Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, with MWL Secretary-General, Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, among the distinguished participants.

The gathering also attracted Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum; Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin; APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, traditional rulers, members of the National Assembly, senior Federal Government officials and other prominent stakeholders.

Participants deliberated on national security, peace, religious harmony, peaceful coexistence, national unity, sustainable socio-economic development and the fight against extremism, with particular attention to challenges including banditry, kidnapping and terrorism.

Abubakar stressed the need for collective action in tackling insecurity, urging government authorities, religious leaders, traditional institutions and communities to strengthen cooperation, dialogue and mutual understanding in the interest of national peace.

He also called on the Federal Government to encourage state governments to ensure justice and fairness in their dealings with citizens, stressing that equitable governance would strengthen public trust, promote national unity and contribute to lasting peace.

The cleric maintained that justice, cooperation and mutual understanding remained critical to overcoming Nigeria’s security challenges, urging leaders and citizens to embrace peaceful coexistence and work collectively towards a secure, united and prosperous Nigeria.
