IMTTI Graduates 60 Montessori Educators, Calls for Wider Adoption of Montessori Education

ABUJA — The International Montessori Teachers Training Institute (IMTTI) has graduated 60 Montessori educators in Abuja, with its Country Director, Mr. Ademolu Kehinde, calling on school proprietors and education executives to embrace Montessori education as a proven approach to bringing out the best in every child.

The call was made on Saturday at the graduation ceremony held at the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Maitama, Abuja, where Kehinde commended the graduands for their perseverance, dedication and commitment to successfully completing the Montessori training programme.

Kehinde said Montessori education recognises the uniqueness and potential of every child, stressing that “Montessori brings out the best in every child.” He added that no child should be regarded as an empty vessel, as every learner possesses abilities that can be identified, nurtured and developed through the right educational environment.

He urged proprietors, school executives and other stakeholders in the education sector to give greater attention to Montessori education and consider integrating its principles into their schools to promote child-centred learning and holistic development.

According to him, educators have a responsibility to understand the individual needs, abilities and pace of each child rather than relying solely on conventional approaches to teaching and learning.

The Country Director also praised the 60 graduands for their perseverance throughout the programme, describing their successful completion of the training as evidence of their determination to improve their professional knowledge and contribute meaningfully to the education of young learners. 

The IMTTI programme provides specialised training in Montessori education, with emphasis on child psychology, practical life activities and child-centred learning methods, particularly for children within the preschool age bracket of three to six years.

The graduation ceremony brought together the graduands, families, education professionals, school proprietors and other stakeholders, who gathered to celebrate the new Montessori educators and their commitment to professional development.

The event ended with the presentation of certificates to the successful graduands, with the institute urging them to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during their training to create nurturing learning environments where children can discover their abilities, develop independence and reach their full potential.
