ABUJA, Aug. 6, 2026 — The Executive Chairman of the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Grace Adagba, on Thursday led the unveiling of the Project BRACE-UP (Building Rights to Access and Compulsory Education for Un-enrolled Pupils) Implementation Plan (2026–2028) and flagged off the distribution of School-in-a-Box kits and sporting equipment to public schools across Benue State in collaboration with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).

The initiative forms part of the Benue State Government's sustained efforts to strengthen access to quality basic education, improve learning outcomes, and reduce the number of out-of-school children through strategic interventions and partnerships.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Grace Adagba said that, with the support of UNICEF, SUBEB distributed 400 School-in-a-Box Kits containing essential teaching and learning materials that will benefit more than 16,000 learners across the state. She explained that the UNICEF-sponsored Project BRACE-UP Implementation Plan provides an eight-pillar strategic framework designed to expand access to compulsory education for un-enrolled children.

Dr. Adagba further disclosed that SUBEB, in partnership with UBEC, distributed sporting equipment to 124 public schools to promote physical fitness, encourage extracurricular participation, and support the holistic development of pupils.

She expressed appreciation to the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, for his unwavering commitment to improving education, and commended the Deputy Governor, Barr. Dr. Sam Ode (MNI), for performing the official flag-off of the programme.

The SUBEB Chairman also thanked UNICEF and UBEC for their continued partnership and support, reaffirming the Board's commitment to ensuring that every Benue child, regardless of background, has access to quality education and the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
