Adikoro Maseph Urges FG to Prioritise Human Capital Development, Improve Workers’ Welfare

ABUJA — A certified Human Resources Manager and Financial and Audit Consultant, Dr. Adikoro Maseph, has called on the Federal Government to prioritise human capital development and substantially improve workers’ welfare, stressing that the wellbeing of employees remains paramount to productivity, institutional efficiency and national development.

Maseph made the call at the 2026 Annual Conference and Induction Ceremony of the Chartered Institute of Human Resources Management, held at the Nigeria Merit Award House, Maitama, Abuja, where human resources professionals and stakeholders converged to examine contemporary issues and deliberate on the future trajectory of the profession.

He charged the newly inducted members and professional colleagues to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct, integrity, accountability and professionalism, stressing that adherence to established ethical principles remains fundamental to maintaining public confidence and advancing the credibility of the human resources profession.

He maintained that workers constitute an indispensable component of national productivity, urging the government to formulate policies that would strengthen human capital development, improve working conditions and provide an enabling environment for employees to discharge their responsibilities effectively.

According to him, a workforce whose welfare is adequately prioritised is more likely to demonstrate commitment, efficiency and higher productivity. He therefore advocated sustained investment in employee development, professional capacity building and effective institutional welfare mechanisms.

Maseph commended the Chartered Institute of Human Resources Management for convening the annual professional gathering, describing the organisation, logistics and preparation for the conference as top-notch. He noted that such platforms were essential for knowledge exchange, professional networking and the advancement of human resources practice.

The annual conference brought together HR practitioners, professionals and other stakeholders to deliberate on emerging workplace dynamics, human capital development and strategic approaches capable of repositioning the profession to meet the demands of a rapidly changing economic landscape.
