Nigeria's Unity Remains Intact, Tinubu's Reforms Will Restore National Glory – Crossland Group MD, Abayomi Ayodele
ABUJA – The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Crossland Group, Dr. Abayomi J. Ayodele, has declared that Nigeria's unity remains unshaken despite prevailing security challenges, urging greater collaboration among government, security agencies and citizens to safeguard national peace and stability.
Dr. Ayodele made the remarks during an interview with journalists at The Unity Project Nigeria Security Summit, held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja. The summit brought together top security stakeholders, government officials, development partners, traditional rulers, civil society organisations and private sector leaders to deliberate on sustainable solutions to Nigeria's security challenges.
He described Nigeria as one of the world's most richly endowed nations, blessed with abundant natural resources, human capital and cultural diversity, stressing that these advantages should serve as the foundation for national unity and development rather than division.
According to him, "We are still coexisting as one people. Nigeria is one of the greatest countries in the world, blessed with abundant human and natural resources. Our diversity is a source of strength, and we must continue to protect our unity."
Dr. Ayodele commended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for its efforts to address the nation's economic and security challenges, expressing optimism that ongoing reforms would reposition the country for sustainable growth.
"There is a positive twist in the air. Although the journey requires patience, I am confident that Nigeria will soon return to the pedestal of glory," he said.
The Crossland Group boss dismissed claims that Nigeria's unity had been fractured, insisting that the activities of criminal elements and other disruptive actors should not be mistaken for a collapse of national cohesion.
"The unity of Nigeria is not broken. What we are witnessing is the action of a few elements attempting to create the impression of division. Nigerians remain united, and together we can overcome these challenges," he stated.
He called for stronger synergy among security agencies, government institutions, the private sector, traditional rulers and local communities, emphasizing that tackling insecurity requires a coordinated national response.
"All hands must be on deck. Through collaboration, intelligence sharing and collective responsibility, we can effectively combat insecurity and strengthen national security," he said.
While acknowledging ongoing government efforts, Dr. Ayodele observed that a significant gap still exists between government institutions and ordinary Nigerians. He urged authorities to deepen public engagement, improve service delivery and implement policies that address the concerns of citizens.
"There is still a huge gap between government and the average man on the street. Closing that gap will build public confidence, strengthen national unity and improve cooperation in the fight against insecurity," he added.
He expressed confidence that with sustained reforms, responsible leadership and the collective commitment of all stakeholders, Nigeria would overcome its security challenges and consolidate its position as a peaceful, united and prosperous nation.
The Unity Project Nigeria Security Summit focused on promoting multi-agency, community-driven and sustainable approaches to strengthening public safety, border governance, national cohesion and long-term security across the country.
