AIHS 2026: Nests & Nails Boss Commends FG, Advocates Improved Land Access for Developers

By Genesis Ogiri

ABUJA – The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Abuja-based real estate firm, Nests & Nails Nigeria Limited, Dr. Akinkunmi Oladipupo, has commended the Federal Government for its ongoing efforts to address Nigeria's housing challenges, while calling for improved access to land to enable developers deliver more affordable homes to low-income earners.

Speaking with newsmen on the sidelines of the ongoing Africa International Housing Show (AIHS 2026) at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, Dr. Oladipupo said the housing sector has continued to benefit from government interventions, but noted that additional measures, particularly in land administration, would further accelerate affordable housing delivery.

"He explained that access to land remains one of the most significant factors influencing the cost of housing, stressing that making land more affordable and readily available to genuine developers would encourage increased private sector investment and boost housing supply.

According to him, developers are committed to supporting government's vision of expanding homeownership, but rising land acquisition costs, escalating prices of building materials, and infrastructure expenses continue to place pressure on housing development across the country.

"Government has made commendable efforts to improve the housing sector through various initiatives, and we appreciate those interventions. Going forward, making land more accessible and affordable for developers will further strengthen these efforts and create the enabling environment needed to deliver quality homes that are within the reach of low-income Nigerians," he said.

Dr. Oladipupo noted that affordable housing cannot be achieved through government efforts alone, emphasizing that stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors is essential to closing Nigeria's housing deficit.

He added that reforms aimed at simplifying land acquisition processes, improving infrastructure in new development areas, and promoting investment-friendly policies would encourage more developers to undertake housing projects across the country.

The Nests & Nails chief also lauded the Convener of the Africa International Housing Show, Barrister Festus Adebayo, for sustaining a platform that continues to bring together policymakers, investors, developers, financial institutions, manufacturers, and other stakeholders to discuss practical solutions to housing challenges.

Describing AIHS as a strategic marketplace for innovation, investment, and policy engagement, he said the annual conference has become an important platform for exchanging ideas, building partnerships, and showcasing emerging trends capable of transforming Africa's housing sector.

"I commend Barrister Festus Adebayo for his commitment to the growth of the housing industry. The Africa International Housing Show has become more than a conference; it is a market hub where stakeholders meet to exchange ideas, establish partnerships, showcase innovations, and collectively chart a path towards sustainable housing development across Africa," he stated.

Dr. Oladipupo expressed optimism that deliberations at this year's conference would translate into practical policy outcomes that would strengthen the real estate sector, improve investor confidence, and expand access to affordable housing for Nigerians.

The Africa International Housing Show, now in its 20th edition, is Africa's foremost annual housing and construction conference, attracting government officials, real estate developers, investors, mortgage institutions, manufacturers of building materials, development partners, and industry experts from across the continent to explore innovative solutions for sustainable urban development and affordable housing delivery.
