ABUJA — The political campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election in 2027 gathered fresh momentum on Thursday as the Yari 774 Initiative for Asiwaju formally launched its nationwide grassroots mobilisation strategy, unveiling a National Executive Council (NEC) tasked with building political structures across Nigeria's 774 Local Government Areas in support of the President and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The inauguration of the NEC, held at Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, attracted party leaders, political stakeholders, grassroots coordinators and supporters from across the country, who pledged to intensify mobilisation efforts aimed at consolidating the gains of the Tinubu administration and securing another electoral victory for the APC in 2027.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman and Convener of the initiative, Chief Ibrahim Emokpaire, PhD, described the movement as a strategic national platform established to deepen grassroots participation, strengthen democratic engagement and build an enduring political structure capable of sustaining President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda beyond the current administration.
Emokpaire said the newly inaugurated National Executive Council would serve as the strategic engine room of the organisation, coordinating policy direction, electoral planning and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections. He stressed that the movement would deploy modern political organising tools and structured grassroots engagement to strengthen the APC's presence in every state, local government, ward and polling unit across the country.
According to him, the initiative is committed to supporting President Tinubu's second-term bid by promoting the administration's policies and achievements while encouraging broader citizen participation in governance. He charged members to intensify voter registration campaigns, educate Nigerians on government reforms and work towards mobilising at least 10 million votes for President Tinubu and Distinguished Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar.
"Politics is about people," Emokpaire told the gathering. "To serve them effectively, we must listen to their grievances, understand their daily struggles and ensure that our movement remains responsive and accountable. We must engage Nigerians with facts, empathy and a clear vision for the future while building a political culture anchored on service above self."
In his welcome address, the National Coordinator of Yari 774 for Asiwaju 2027, Rt. Hon. Olufemi Richard Bamisile, PhD, described the inauguration of the NEC as the birth of a national movement that would mobilise millions of Nigerians in support of President Tinubu's re-election and deliver electoral victories for the APC at all levels in 2027.
Bamisile commended President Tinubu for what he described as bold and courageous reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda, saying the administration has taken difficult but necessary decisions to stabilise the economy, attract investment, strengthen national security, improve infrastructure, expand social intervention programmes and lay the foundation for sustainable national development. He also praised Distinguished Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar as an accomplished administrator and exceptional grassroots mobiliser whose experience and political network would strengthen the movement nationwide.
Adding his voice, former Military Governor of Borno State, Col. Abdulmumini Aminu (Rtd), expressed confidence that President Tinubu remains well positioned to secure victory in the 2027 presidential election despite growing opposition. He said Nigerians would ultimately assess the administration based on its performance, particularly its investments in critical infrastructure and economic reforms.
The retired military officer highlighted ongoing construction and rehabilitation of federal roads as well as the expansion of railway infrastructure across the country, noting that the projects are improving connectivity, stimulating commerce and creating the foundation for long-term economic growth. He argued that these achievements, alongside other reforms of the Tinubu administration, would strengthen public confidence and enhance the President's electoral prospects in 2027.
Declaring the maiden National Executive Council meeting open, Emokpaire urged members to write a new chapter in the nation's political history by placing country above personal interests and service above power. He expressed confidence that the Yari 774 Initiative would evolve into one of the APC's strongest grassroots mobilisation platforms, capable of consolidating support for President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda and contributing significantly to the party's success in the 2027 general elections.
