Ngor Okpala Assembly Race 2027: Akwara Rolls Out People-Centred Blueprint for Grassroots Transformation

 By Genesis Ogiri

Barr. Patrice Eberechukwu Akwara, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) standard-bearer for the Ngor Okpala State Constituency seat in the Imo State House of Assembly, has formally unveiled his governing blueprint, “The Divine Mandate,” presenting a broad-based development compact designed to reposition the constituency on the path of inclusive prosperity, responsive representation and sustainable grassroots development.

The policy document, which serves as the ideological and programmatic anchor of the Akwara campaign, articulates a people-driven legislative agenda built around modern agriculture, quality education, youth empowerment, affordable healthcare, rural infrastructure and participatory governance.

Akwara said the blueprint was conceived as a social contract between the electorate and a leadership platform committed to translating the aspirations of the people into actionable legislation, strategic oversight and constituency-focused interventions.

“The Divine Mandate is not a ceremonial campaign document; it is a covenant of service and a roadmap for accountable representation,” the NDC candidate said, adding that Ngor Okpala requires a representative who will not merely occupy a legislative seat but deploy it as a platform for advocacy, policy influence and the mobilisation of development opportunities.

At the centre of the blueprint is an agricultural transformation agenda aimed at strengthening the productive capacity of local farmers, expanding access to agricultural support systems and advancing food security. The proposed framework seeks to position agriculture as a driver of rural enterprise, job creation and household economic stability.

On education, Akwara pledged to champion legislative interventions that will support improved learning environments, scholarship opportunities, digital inclusion and ICT-based capacity development for students and young people across the constituency.

The NDC flag bearer also placed youth development at the forefront of his policy architecture, outlining plans to promote vocational training, entrepreneurship, employability programmes and youth-focused economic opportunities. He said the goal is to convert the energy and potential of young people into productive assets for community development.

In the healthcare sector, the blueprint proposes advocacy for accessible and affordable health services, particularly for rural and underserved communities, while calling for stronger support for primary healthcare delivery and preventive care.

Akwara’s infrastructure agenda prioritises rural road development, with the objective of improving connectivity between communities, farms, markets, schools and health facilities. He noted that functional road networks are essential to unlocking economic activity and ensuring that development reaches the grassroots.

The candidate also pledged to institutionalise accessible representation through regular constituency engagement, stakeholder consultations and an open-door leadership model that gives citizens a direct channel to influence legislative priorities.

Describing himself as “not a career politician, but a community servant,” Akwara said his campaign is anchored on a new political culture that places service above self-interest and public trust above personal ambition.

With the campaign refrain, “In God We Trust, In Service We Deliver,” the NDC standard-bearer urged the people of Ngor Okpala to rally behind a development-driven mandate that prioritises youth, agriculture, education and progress.

The unveiling of “The Divine Mandate” signals the formal activation of Akwara’s issue-based campaign, as he seeks to consolidate grassroots support and present a credible, policy-oriented alternative for the people of Ngor Okpala State Constituency.
