Deputy Speaker’s Wife, Dr. Ezinne Chinyere Benjamin Kalu, Honoured Among Focus Africa’s 100 Leading Personalities
Dr. Ezinne Chinyere Benjamin Kalu, wife of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has been recognised among the 100 Leading Personalities by the Focus Africa Series.
The honour was bestowed at the organisation’s 10th Anniversary Celebration held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, bringing together distinguished guests, public servants, diplomats, professionals, development advocates and other eminent personalities from across Africa.
Dr. (Mrs) Ezine Kalu received the award alongside Mrs. Safiyyah Hassan Shaibu, wife of the Chief of Army Staff, in recognition of their respective contributions to public service, women’s advancement and national development.
The recognition ceremony formed part of the Focus Africa Series’ decade-long celebration of African leadership, service and excellence. The platform has continued to project stories of impact, leadership and development across the continent, with an active presence in more than 27 African countries.
In her remarks, Dr. Kalu expressed gratitude to the organisers for the honour and pledged to remain committed to championing the cause of women, especially through advocacy, empowerment and the promotion of opportunities that enable women to thrive in their various fields of endeavour.
She commended the resilience and purposeful pursuit of the Focus Africa Series over the last 10 years, describing its sustained commitment to documenting African achievements and celebrating outstanding personalities as commendable.
Dr. Ezine Kalu noted that platforms which recognise service and positive leadership are vital to building a culture of excellence, encouraging more Nigerians and Africans to devote their talents and influence to community development and nation-building.
The President of the Focus Africa Series, Ambassador Succex Bright Ibeh, said the anniversary was not merely a celebration of time but a reflection of the organisation’s vision to spotlight Africa’s hidden heroes, development opportunities and inspiring success stories. The organisation says its awards programme recognises people and institutions making sustained impact in communities across Africa.
The recognition of Dr. Ezinne Chinyere Benjamin Kalu further underscores her growing role in women-focused advocacy, healthcare support and social development, while reinforcing the importance of honouring individuals whose leadership continues to inspire positive change across Nigeria and the African continent.
