Akwara Emerges as NDC Flag Bearer, Calls on Constituents to Secure PVCs for Good Governance
ABUJA - The flag bearer of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for Ngor Okpala State Constituency, Barr. Patrice Eberechukwu Akwara, has called on eligible voters across the constituency to obtain and safeguard their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs), describing the voter card as the most important instrument for democratic participation and good governance.
Akwara made the call during a series of engagements with community leaders, youth groups, women associations, and other stakeholders across the constituency, where he emphasized the need for active citizen participation in the electoral process.
The PVC is more than just a card. It is the people's voice and their power to influence governance. Every eligible voter must ensure that he or she is registered and prepared to participate in the electoral process. The development we seek can only be achieved when citizens actively engage in choosing their representatives," Akwara stated.
He explained that his acceptance of the State House of Assembly ticket was guided by party interest, strategic political considerations, and a commitment to strengthening internal cohesion within the Nigeria Democratic Congress. He urged supporters not to be distracted or divided, but to remain focused on the bigger picture of service, victory, and effective representation for Ngor Okpala State Constituency, stressing the need for unity, discipline, and shared purpose.
Speaking after consultations with party stakeholders and supporters, the legal practitioner and development advocate emphasized that leadership within a political party requires sacrifice, discipline, and respect for collective decisions aimed at achieving broader electoral success. He added that his political ambition remains rooted in service delivery, inclusive governance, and policies that will improve the living standards of constituents, noting that his decision reflects maturity in leadership and commitment to party progress.
Political observers have described his emergence as the NDC flag bearer as a significant development in the constituency’s political landscape, citing his professional experience, grassroots engagement, and people-centered leadership approach, while also noting that such strategic alignment often strengthens party unity and electoral prospects.
Akwara reiterated that the future of Ngor Okpala depends largely on the willingness of the people to exercise their constitutional rights and elect leaders committed to service, accountability, and sustainable development. He stated that quality representation remains critical to addressing the challenges facing communities within the constituency and pledged to champion policies focused on infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, economic opportunities, and security if elected.
He further assured constituents that his campaign would be anchored on inclusiveness, transparency, and grassroots development, pledging to work closely with traditional rulers, community associations, youth organizations, religious leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure that the needs and aspirations of the people are effectively represented.
Akwara urged residents not to underestimate the importance of their votes, stressing that every PVC represents an opportunity to shape the future of the constituency and promote responsible governance.
As political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of the elections, the NDC flag bearer reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people and advancing policies that will improve the welfare of constituents across Ngor Okpala State Constituency.
For Akwara, the message remains clear: “Your PVC is your ticket to good governance, effective representation, and a better future.”
