Zamfara North 2027: NDC Senate Aspirant Jibril Shehu Mustapha Advocates Youth Empowerment and Grassroots Development Agenda

ABUJA— The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Senate aspirant for Zamfara North Senatorial District, Jibril Shehu Mustapha, has intensified his political engagements across the senatorial axis, calling for a comprehensive policy shift anchored on youth empowerment, grassroots development, and inclusive governance as critical drivers of sustainable socio-economic transformation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during the screening exercise in Abuja, held at Bon Hotel, and in a strategic engagement with party stakeholders and press men, Mustapha expressed deep concern over what he described as the widening socio-economic disconnect between governance structures and the youth population, noting that a significant number of young people across the district remain excluded from meaningful economic participation, empowerment frameworks, and decision-making processes within the broader democratic architecture.

He emphasized that his senatorial ambition is driven by a deliberate legislative agenda aimed at repositioning governance outcomes through structured youth development programs, skills acquisition initiatives, and targeted employment interventions designed to reduce unemployment and address rising social vulnerability across communities in Zamfara North.

According to him, grassroots development remains the most viable instrument for national stability and democratic consolidation, stressing that sustainable progress cannot be achieved without strengthening rural economies, empowering local communities, and ensuring equitable distribution of developmental resources across all constituencies.

Mustapha further highlighted insecurity as a major challenge confronting Zamfara North, noting that the persistent security situation has significantly undermined agricultural productivity, disrupted local commerce, and displaced socio-economic activities across several communities within the senatorial district.

He, however, assured that if given the mandate, his legislative intervention would prioritize a collaborative security architecture, community-based intelligence systems, and strengthened inter-agency coordination aimed at restoring peace, rebuilding public trust, and revitalizing economic activities across affected areas.

Reaffirming his ideological stance, the NDC Senate aspirant stated that his political philosophy is rooted in people-centered governance, participatory democracy, and development-driven representation, where constituents are not merely beneficiaries but active stakeholders in governance processes.

Mustapha also called on the electorate across Zamfara North to rally behind the Nigeria Democratic Congress, describing the party as a growing platform for reform-oriented leadership, institutional accountability, and grassroots-inclusive governance.

He maintained that his aspiration represents a renewed commitment to bridging the gap between leadership and the people, while advancing a legislative agenda centered on human capital development, economic inclusion, and sustainable community advancement.

For political observers tracking the evolving dynamics within Zamfara’s pre-2027 landscape, Mustapha’s engagements reflect a calculated consolidation of grassroots support and a strategic positioning as a prominent voice for youth-focused representation and developmental governance within the senatorial district.
