Offa/Oyun/Edu/Ofelodun 2027: Asiwaju Mashood Shittu Commends NDC Ideology, Pledges Grassroots-Driven Representation

By Genesis Ogiri

ABUJA — Asiwaju Mashood Shittu, a House of Representatives aspirant for Offa/Oyun/Edu/Ofelodun Federal Constituency under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has described the party’s ideological mantra of “A New Nigeria is Possible” as a timely political reawakening and a significant step toward redefining governance values across the country.

Speaking during the NDC screening exercise in Abuja, Shittu commended the leadership of the party for what he described as a transparent, structured, and credibility-driven process, noting that the exercise—from the purchase of nomination forms to the screening stage—reflects a strengthening of internal democracy and renewed institutional confidence within the party architecture.

He stated that the orderly conduct of the screening process demonstrates the NDC’s commitment to rebuilding trust in political leadership, adding that the consistency of its internal mechanisms sends a strong signal of preparedness for responsible governance, accountability, and people-oriented representation.

He further noted that the ideological direction of the NDC aligns with the growing national demand for political renewal, emphasizing that the party’s philosophy is increasingly resonating with citizens seeking inclusive governance, socio-economic justice, and development-driven leadership.

According to him, the challenges confronting communities across Offa/Oyun/Edu/Ofelodun Federal Constituency require a deliberate shift toward grassroots-centered representation, where legislative engagement is not detached from the lived realities of the people but directly responsive to their developmental needs.

He pledged that, if given the mandate to represent the constituency at the National Assembly, his legislative focus would prioritize grassroots inclusion, participatory governance, and equitable development, ensuring that democratic dividends are effectively distributed across all wards and communities.

He emphasized that his policy direction would be anchored on youth empowerment, skills acquisition, small and medium enterprise support, and community development initiatives aimed at reducing unemployment and strengthening local economic resilience within the constituency.

He further stressed the importance of constituency accessibility, stating that representation must go beyond legislative chambers to active community engagement, continuous stakeholder consultation, and structured feedback mechanisms that ensure citizens remain central to governance decisions.

Reaffirming his political commitment, Shittu called on constituents to rally behind the Nigeria Democratic Congress, noting that the party’s ideology represents a pathway toward a “new Nigeria” driven by accountability, inclusiveness, institutional reform, and sustainable development.

He maintained that his aspiration is rooted in a vision of service, development, and people-centered governance, where leadership is measured not by rhetoric but by tangible impact on the lives of ordinary citizens across Offa/Oyun/Edu/Ofelodun Federal Constituency.

In conclusion, Asiwaju Moshood Shittu reaffirmed that his aspiration is firmly rooted in a transformative agenda of people-centered governance, grassroots inclusion, and sustainable constituency development. He maintained that his vision is not merely political but developmental, aimed at bridging the gap between leadership and the people through accountable representation and measurable impact.

He further called on the electorate of Offa/Oyun/Edu/Ofelodun Federal Constituency to embrace the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as a platform of renewal, stressing that his mandate, if entrusted, would be dedicated to delivering tangible democratic dividends, strengthening community development structures, and advancing a new era of responsive and inclusive leadership.
