The political structure of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Akwa Ibom State is witnessing renewed strategic alignment as key party leaders intensify efforts to reposition the coalition for stronger grassroots penetration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

At the centre of this political realignment are Chief Sunny Ibanga, the State Political Leader, and Ambassador Dr. Princess Victoria Ibokette, the Deputy Political Leader, both of whom are expected to drive a coordinated strategy for grassroots mobilisation, political consolidation, and structural expansion across the state.

Party insiders describe the emerging leadership synergy as a deliberate political engineering process aimed at strengthening ward-level structures, revitalising local government networks, and improving the party’s field coordination capacity ahead of the polls.
