Abuja - The GESA Initiative (Grassroots Entrepreneurship Skills Acquisition Initiative), under the leadership of Cynthia Ifueko Obazee, is spearheading efforts aimed at transforming Nigeria’s education ecosystem through the School Child and Rural Teachers Innovation Project (SCARTIP).

SCARTIP, meaning School Child and Rural Teachers Innovation Project, is an education-focused intervention designed to improve access to inclusive and quality education for out-of-school children while strengthening the capacity of teachers, particularly within rural communities across Nigeria.

According to the organisers, the project has received endorsement from the Federal Ministry of Education alongside relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), further reinforcing its credibility as a strategic national education intervention.

The initiative focuses on key thematic areas including access to education for vulnerable children, teacher innovation  and professional development. safe and conducive learning environments, climate education, innovation, creativity, and digital learning integration.
Speaking on the project, Executive Director Cynthia Ifueko Obazee disclosed that implementation has already commenced through digital training programmes for teachers in collaboration with the FCT Education Resource Centre

She explained that the digital training component represents a major foundation for the successful implementation of SCARTIP across rural communities, noting that teachers remain central to educational transformation in the digital age.

Obazee emphasized the need for collective support from government institutions, development partners, private organisations, and stakeholders to encourage innovation, creativity, critical thinking, and the use of digital tools, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), within Nigeria’s education system.

According to her, preparing the future workforce begins from the classroom, adding that both teachers and rural communities must not be left behind in the global digital transition.

“Teachers should not be left behind in a digitised world, and rural communities should not be left behind either. SCARTIP is bridging the gap and ensuring inclusive quality education for all Nigerian children and youths,” she stated.

The project is also expected to promote sustainable learning systems, improve teacher effectiveness, encourage technology-enabled classrooms, and support educational inclusion among underserved populations.

Education stakeholders have continued to describe initiatives such as SCARTIP as timely interventions capable of supporting Nigeria’s drive toward sustainable development, youth empowerment, and improved educational access for marginalized populations.

With increasing calls for strategic partnerships nationwide, the GESA Initiative is positioning SCARTIP as a collaborative platform for educational transformation, innovation, and community-driven impact across Nigeria.
