Dr. Rahab Omojo Okpe Bags Humanitarian Fellowship Award, Reaffirms Commitment to Service

Dr. Rahab Omojo Okpe has been conferred with a Distinguished Fellowship Award by the Institute of Humanitarian and Disaster Management in recognition of her outstanding contributions to humanitarian service and support for vulnerable populations.

The award was presented during a solemn but colorful ceremony held on May 9, 2026, at the Nigeria Merit Award House, an event which brought together stakeholders in humanitarian work, development partners, and distinguished guests.

Dr. Rahab Omojo Okpe, a former staff member of the Nigerian Television Authority, was highly applauded for her dedication to humanitarian causes, especially her consistent engagement with internally displaced persons and vulnerable communities.

The institute described her as a passionate advocate whose work reflects deep empathy, resilience, and commitment to improving human conditions across affected regions in Nigeria.

During the event, she expressed gratitude for the recognition, noting that humanitarian service remains a lifelong responsibility rather than a temporary assignment.

She emphasized that “someone must stand up,” adding that as long as human suffering persists, humanitarian service must remain active, consistent, and responsive. 

Dr. Okpe further pledged to intensify her efforts in reaching vulnerable states and communities, particularly through targeted interventions aimed at alleviating suffering among displaced persons.

She reaffirmed her commitment to continue putting smiles on the faces of internally displaced persons (IDPs), describing them as a central focus of her humanitarian engagement.

The ceremony concluded with commendations from stakeholders who praised her selfless service, describing her as a beacon of hope whose work continues to inspire humanitarian action across Nigeria.
