Dr. Onyebuchi Emenike Okoro Picks NDC Form, Promises To Restore Hope in Bende Constituency

Abuja — Frontline medical practitioner and public affairs advocate, Dr. Onyebuchi Emenike Okoro, has officially picked the nomination form under the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Bende Federal Constituency in Abia State, in what political observers have described as a strategic political realignment capable of redefining the political trajectory and legislative direction of the constituency ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Dr. Okoro, while addressing journalists and supporters shortly after securing the party’s nomination form, declared that his entrance into the race was born out of the urgent need to rescue the constituency from years of political stagnation, ineffective representation, and what he termed “leadership disconnected from the realities of the people.”

The federal lawmaker hopeful lamented the widening infrastructural deficit and socio-economic challenges confronting communities across the constituency, stressing that the absence of visionary and people-driven representation has continued to undermine development and democratic inclusion in the area.

According to him, the people of Bende Federal Constituency deserve a responsive leadership architecture anchored on accountability, legislative effectiveness, and inclusive governance capable of translating democratic dividends into tangible realities for ordinary citizens.

“We can no longer keep quiet while our people continue to suffer neglect and political marginalization. Governance is not rocket science. What is required is sincerity of purpose, strategic leadership, and the political will to place the interests of the people above personal ambition,” Dr. Okoro stated.

He further maintained that his aspiration is not merely a political contest but a movement geared toward restoring public confidence in democratic representation and repositioning the constituency for sustainable growth and national relevance.

Dr. Okoro decried the deplorable state of road infrastructure, inadequate healthcare systems, poor educational facilities, and the alarming level of youth unemployment across the constituency, noting that years of underrepresentation have created a vacuum in effective legislative advocacy and constituency development.

He pledged to champion progressive legislation and policy-driven interventions that would stimulate infrastructural renewal, strengthen healthcare delivery, expand educational opportunities, and create sustainable empowerment programmes for youths and women.

The NDC aspirant also emphasized the need for participatory governance, strategic stakeholder engagement, and people-centered policymaking, insisting that effective representation must go beyond rhetoric and political symbolism to measurable impact and visible development.

“Our people deserve a representative who understands their pains, speaks their language, and possesses the competence to articulate their concerns on the floor of the National Assembly. This is about restoring hope, rebuilding trust, and giving the people a stronger voice in the democratic process,” he added.

Political stakeholders, youth groups, and community leaders who witnessed the declaration described Dr. Okoro’s emergence as a significant development capable of reshaping the political landscape of Bendel Federal Constituency ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

Many supporters expressed optimism that his candidacy would usher in a new era of transformational leadership, pragmatic representation, and grassroots-focused governance tailored toward the socio-economic advancement of the constituency.
