Preparations have been concluded for the 25th Anniversary edition of the Nigerian International Book Fair (NIBF), a major literary and educational gathering championed by renowned publisher and education advocate, Dr. Anthony Akpokene, Chief Executive Officer of Flomat Books.
The event, scheduled to hold from 13th to 15th May 2026, will take place daily at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, bringing together authors, publishers, educators, policymakers, students, and stakeholders across Nigeria’s education and literary sector.
This year’s theme, “Education for All: Closing the Gap on Nigeria’s Out-of-School Children,” underscores a renewed national conversation on access to education, literacy development, and inclusive learning opportunities for vulnerable children across the country.
According to the organisers, the 25th anniversary edition will feature exhibitions, book presentations, panel discussions, author meet-and-greets, and policy dialogues aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s reading culture and educational framework.
Dr. Akpokene, speaking ahead of the event, emphasized that the book fair is not just a literary exhibition but a national platform for educational reform advocacy and knowledge exchange.
He noted that the increasing number of out-of-school children in Nigeria demands urgent collective action from government, private sector actors, publishers, and civil society organizations to bridge the widening education gap.
“This year’s edition is a call to action. We are using the book fair as a strategic platform to push for inclusive education and to reawaken national consciousness on the importance of literacy development,” he stated.
The CEO of Flomat Books further highlighted that the 25th anniversary edition will place strong emphasis on youth engagement, teacher development, and access to affordable educational materials across all levels of learning.
Participants are expected from across Africa and beyond, making the event a key international convergence point for literary professionals and education stakeholders.
Registration for attendance is currently open via the official portal www.nibfng.org, as organisers encourage wide participation in what is expected to be one of the most impactful editions in the history of the fair.
