Elkanah Eyaba Akoru Bags PhD in Psychology & Christian Counselling, Says Church in Nigeria Is Marching Forth
Dr. Elkanah Eyaba Akoru, an estate manager and a pastor in the making, has been awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Psychology and Christian Counselling by El-Elyon International Bible College and Seminary during a solemn convocation ceremony held at the FCT Pilgrims Welfare Board, Abuja.
The ceremony attracted clerics, academic scholars, and family members who gathered to celebrate graduants for their commitment to faith-based education and their pursuit of excellence in integrating psychological knowledge with Christian counselling principles.
Amidst the gathering of esteemed graduants, Dr. Eyaba Akoru was specially recognized among scholars whose academic journey reflects discipline, perseverance, and a deep commitment to both spiritual and professional development.
In his remarks at the convocation square, the Provost of the College, Prof. Silas D. John, charged the graduants to remain steadfast in the Word of God, stressing that true success in ministry and life is rooted in sound doctrine, integrity, and obedience to divine principles.
He further urged them to use their academic achievements as instruments of service, encouraging them to apply their knowledge in counselling, leadership, and community upliftment for the benefit of humanity.
Speaking with Newsway Media Reporters shortly after the ceremony, Dr. Eyaba Akoru affirmed that the Church in Nigeria is marching forth, noting that there is evident spiritual growth, expansion, and increasing capacity among ministers of the gospel.
He explained that this progress is reflected in the rising number of trained Christian counsellors and leaders who are better equipped to address emotional, spiritual, and societal challenges with wisdom and compassion.
Dr. Eyaba Akoru called on Christians not to give up in their faith, stressing that perseverance remains essential in the Christian journey despite life’s challenges and uncertainties, adding confidently that “we will get out of it soon.”
Dr. Eyaba further highlighted his dual role as an estate manager and a minister-in-training, stating that integrating professional practice with ministry preparation demonstrates that faith and career excellence can coexist effectively.
The ceremony concluded with prayers, thanksgiving, and goodwill messages, as participants celebrated the graduants and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing Christian education, spiritual development, and service to humanity.
