U.S. Varsity Confers Honorary Doctorate on Engr. Ilesanmi Frederick Adesemoye

ABUJA — In recognition of his outstanding contributions to engineering, public service, nation-building, and the advancement of societal development, Engr. Dr. Ilesanmi Frederick Adesemoye (PGD, MNSE, COREN, MNAHB, FICPAN) has been conferred with an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters by the British American Open University (BAOUC), California. The honor celebrates his enduring impact on public service, youth empowerment, community development, and humanitarian initiatives.
The conferment ceremony took place at the National Merit Award House, Maitama, Abuja, with senior government officials, captains of industry, academics, and civil society leaders in attendance. The gathering underscored the breadth of Dr. Adesemoye’s influence, highlighting both his professional and humanitarian contributions.
A Doctorate in Humane Letters is an honorary degree that recognizes a lifetime of contributions to human welfare, ethical leadership, and societal advancement, celebrating the recipient’s role in improving the human condition rather than purely academic or technical achievements. The degree underscores Dr. Adesemoye’s commitment to public service, community development, youth empowerment, and humanitarian initiatives throughout his career.
Reacting to the honor, Dr. Adesemoye said:

In a formal statement, BAOUC officials lauded Dr. Adesemoye’s achievements.
The announcement, jointly authorized by Professor David Bruce Day, Vice-Chancellor, and Prof. Paul Godwin Udofia, Country Director, and communicated by Mr. Leonard Papee Onuchukwu, a key member of the Planning and Mobilization Committee, described him as a leader whose work exemplifies the university’s philosophy of knowledge applied to human progress, particularly in the realm of humanitarian service and societal development.
Born on November 7, 1965, in Odode, Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State, Dr. Adesemoye is the son of the late Mr. Festus Oladokun Adesemoye and Mrs. Margaret Mopeola Adesemoye. His early life was marked by discipline, curiosity, and a dedication to service—qualities that shaped his enduring leadership trajectory.
He began his education at St. Paul Primary School, later attending Olofin Anglican Grammar School, Odode. Driven by his passion for engineering and societal improvement, he earned an OND in Civil Engineering from Ondo State Polytechnic, Owo in 1986, followed by an HND in Civil Engineering from Yaba College of Technology, Lagos in 1990.
Further advancing his knowledge, Dr. Adesemoye completed a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Civil Engineering at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, in 2001, and undertook coursework in a Master’s Degree in Environmental Resources Management (MSc) at Nasarawa State University in 2013. These academic accomplishments strengthened his capacity to drive both technical and humanitarian initiatives.
During his 35-year tenure at the Federal Ministry of Housing, he led transformative projects, notably engaging private estate developers under the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board, a department under the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, ensuring the welfare and housing needs of public servants were met.
Beyond his distinguished civil service career, Dr. Adesemoye continues to advance human development through his active involvement with Takedo International Company Limited, where he serves as a member under the leadership of Prince Taiwo Oyekan, Chairman/Group Managing Director. Through this platform, he contributes to initiatives aimed at fostering private sector investment, driving economic growth, and generating employment.
He also sustains his commitment to social impact through the Community Impact and Social Development Initiative (CISDI), an NGO dedicated to youth mentorship, community empowerment, and humanitarian interventions across Nigeria.
