LAGOS — Omniversity, an ISO-aligned global institution advancing practice-based education and workforce development, has conferred an Honorary Fellowship (Hon. Fel.) in Peacebuilding, Leadership & Development Advocacy on Ambassador Onuche Kingsley Itodo, in recognition of his far-reaching humanitarian interventions, governance advocacy, and sustained leadership impact across Nigeria and international platforms.
The conferment followed a rigorous Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) evaluation conducted by the institution’s Evaluation and Assessment Committee. After an in-depth review of his professional journey, social advocacy footprint, and peacebuilding record, the Committee affirmed that Ambassador Itodo met and exceeded the highest benchmarks for honorary distinction within Omniversity’s experiential recognition framework.
Ambassador Itodo is the Founder and President of the Peace Ambassadors Advocacy Network (PAAN), a purpose-driven organization operating nationally and internationally to promote conflict resolution, civic participation, human capital development, and grassroots empowerment. Through visionary leadership and disciplined institutional building, he has positioned PAAN as a credible force in peace dialogue, inclusive governance, and community-led development.
A defining element of his leadership legacy is the Peace Ambassadors of Nigeria Program, a flagship initiative designed to train and commission 1,000 peace and development leaders across the country. The program has strengthened mediation mechanisms, empowered youth and women, and institutionalized peace education at the grassroots, delivering outcomes widely acknowledged for their sustainability and strategic depth.
Beyond programmatic interventions, Ambassador Itodo has demonstrated exceptional capacity in partnership development and diplomatic engagement. Under his leadership, PAAN has cultivated strategic collaborations with government agencies, traditional institutions, civil society actors, development organizations, and international stakeholders, enhancing humanitarian coordination and SDG-aligned programming across multiple sectors.
His influence has also extended to global policy and advocacy platforms, including engagements aligned with the United Nations World Summit for Social Development (WSSD2). These participations have amplified Nigeria’s peacebuilding narrative on the international stage and reinforced his reputation as a bridge-builder committed to social justice and inclusive development.
Ambassador Itodo’s advocacy portfolio further reflects a deep humanitarian ethos, spanning gender equality, anti-violence campaigns, inclusive governance reforms, and community mediation. Notably, the 10 Million Women & Girls Speak Parliament campaign has been widely referenced as a bold intervention aimed at elevating women’s voices in leadership and decision-making processes.
In its final report, the Evaluation and Assessment Committee unanimously endorsed the conferment, describing Ambassador Itodo as a transformational leader whose work embodies ethical leadership, international relevance, and enduring social impact. The recommendation was formally endorsed by Dr. Tula Sokuya, Secretary of the Committee.
The Honorary Fellowship was conferred during the African Education Innovation Workshop 2025 & ISO-Aligned Practice Qualifications Conferment, themed “Revolutionizing Nigeria’s Education & Workforce Development,” an event that marked a milestone in integrating experiential learning, competency-based evaluation, and skill recognition into Africa’s evolving education ecosystem.
Reacting to the honour via his verifiable social media platform, Ambassador Itodo described the Fellowship as “a humbling recognition of collective sacrifice and service.” He noted that the award reaffirmed his commitment to peacebuilding and inclusive leadership, adding that “this honour belongs to every volunteer, partner, and community that believes dialogue is stronger than violence, and inclusion more powerful than exclusion
.” He further pledged to deepen PAAN’s interventions, expand youth and women-focused initiatives, and sustain advocacy that positions peace as the cornerstone of national development.
As the accolade rests upon his shoulders, it illuminates the enduring truth: those who labor in service, guided by vision and grounded in love, leave footprints on the sands of time that no storm can erase. Ambassador Itodo’s legacy whispers a promise that peace, advocacy, and hope, when pursued with purpose, transform nations, shape destinies, and echo across generations.
