ABUJA - In a resounding demonstration of commitment to community health and sustainable medical access, the Nigeria Association of Patent and Proprietary Medicine Dealers (NAPPMED), FCT Abuja Chapter, held its 2nd Annual Conference at the serene premises of the Catholic Cathedral, Area 3, Garki, Abuja.

The event, themed “Grassroots Health,” resonated deeply with the association’s long-standing vision of ensuring that every Nigerian — regardless of social or economic status — enjoys the fundamental right to accessible and afforwmsdable healthcare. The conference brought together health stakeholders, government representatives, traditional leaders, and frontline medicine dealers, all united by a shared mission to strengthen the primary healthcare delivery system across communities.

From the opening session to the closing remarks, the atmosphere was charged with passion, professionalism, and purpose. Participants exchanged innovative ideas on health management, drug distribution ethics, and community health partnerships, emphasizing that true national health development begins at the grassroots.

One of the highlights of the gathering was the presentation of merit awards to distinguished personalities and members who have shown outstanding commitment to humanitarian service, integrity, and professional excellence within the healthcare value chain. The recognition not only celebrated individual achievement but also spotlighted the evolving relevance of NAPPMED as a vital partner in Nigeria’s healthcare ecosystem.

Speaking at the event, the President of NAPPMED FCT Chapter, Chief Celestine Ikechukwu Ugwoke, expressed profound appreciation to all delegates, guests, and partners for their unwavering support and participation. He lauded their sense of unity and shared purpose, describing the conference as a “strategic gathering of minds determined to build a healthier society from the grassroots up.”

Chief Ugwoke reaffirmed the association’s guiding philosophy, saying:

“Our slogan remains Health for All. It is our constant prayer and collective mission that every Nigerian, irrespective of location, should have access to quality healthcare. The knowledge gained from this conference should be used to uplift our communities and advance our association.”

Also lending his voice, Comrade Nwoye Livinus, one of the distinguished members of the association, applauded the organizers for hosting such a transformative summit. He noted that the conference had broadened his perspective and introduced new ideas capable of improving grassroots health delivery.

“This conference has brought so much insight and innovation,” he remarked. “I am personally inspired to put the lessons learned into practice for the advancement of our people’s well-being.”

Similarly, Chief Godwin Agbenyo described the conference as remarkable and intellectually stimulating, commending the level of coordination and participation. He emphasized the importance of sharing ideas and experiences as a tool for continuous improvement within the association and the wider healthcare sector.

“This year’s conference is truly remarkable,” Chief Agbenyo said. “It has given us the platform to share practical ideas and strategies that will help improve our operations and enhance grassroots medical services.”

Chief Ugwoke further assured that the next year’s edition of the conference would be more expansive, impactful, and policy-driven, positioning the FCT chapter as a pace-setter in grassroots medical practice and community health advocacy.

The conference, rich in insight and inspiration, reaffirmed NAPPMED’s leadership in bridging the gap between professional healthcare delivery and local medical access. Through continuous education, ethical practice, and collaborative engagement, the association continues to serve as a lifeline for millions at the grassroots, embodying the true spirit of health inclusiveness, professionalism, and national well-being.
