(Chief) Clement Aghogho Ucho, PhD, MNSE, MSPE, MMGS, was elevated to the distinguished ranks of Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Petroleum and Gas Engineers (NIPetGE) at the 2025 Annual Conference, held within the regal environs of the Abuja Continental Hotel.
The ceremony, radiant with ceremonial splendor and the aura of professional majesty, convened Nigeria’s foremost leaders in petroleum engineering, energy policy, and industrial innovation. Amidst an atmosphere resonating with technical brilliance and visionary leadership, the conferment of fellowship signified not merely recognition of a remarkable career, but the crowning of a lifetime dedicated to service, ethical stewardship, and transformative impact within the nation’s oil and gas sector.
Hailing from Edjekota-Ogor in Ugheli North, Delta State, Engr. Ucho’s journey embodies brilliance, resilience, and sustained contribution. From achieving the sole Distinction at Owina Primary School, Benin City, to excelling at Greater Tomorrow Secondary School, his early promise foreshadowed a career hallmarked by academic mastery, global competence, and visionary leadership.
His scholastic accomplishments include National Diploma and Higher National Diploma with Upper Credit in Mineral Resources and Petroleum Engineering (PTI, Effurun), B.Eng in Petroleum Engineering (University of Port Harcourt), MSc in Petroleum Engineering (University of Ibadan), and a PhD in Project Management (Enugu State University of Technology) — a foundation reflecting both technical acumen and strategic foresight.
Engr. Ucho’s professional trajectory spans over two decades of global oilfield experience, beginning with Schlumberger Limited, where he rose from Field Specialist to Supervisor, undertaking complex technical operations and international assignments. He subsequently served as Well Intervention and Hydraulic Workover Engineer with Tecon Oil Servicing Company, before co-establishing the DST/TCP Department in Kurdistan, Iraq at OilSERV Oil Field Services. He later joined Halliburton Energy Services in Iraq, coordinating critical Well Testing operations, demonstrating exceptional leadership in high-stakes, cross-border environments.
After a consultancy assignment with Baker Hughes in Ghana, Engr. Ucho returned to Nigeria as Country Manager at Librod Energy Services, before founding MC Ucho Nigeria Limited, a wholly Nigerian-owned company providing procurement, rentals, and oil & gas services. His leadership and entrepreneurial vision have not only strengthened indigenous capacity but also significantly contributed to the nation’s energy infrastructure and technical excellence.
Beyond professional achievements, Engr. Ucho is a silent philanthropist, sponsoring the education of students at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. He holds two esteemed chieftaincy titles, “Mene Zaasi of Ogoni Land” in Delta State and “Geredekeme of Kercbiri Mein”, actively advancing social, educational, and infrastructural development in the culturally rich Ogoni kingdom of Rivers State.
A distinguished member of professional bodies including NIPetGE, SPE, NSE, COREN, NMGS, and COMEG, and an honorary fellow of leadership and project management institutes, Engr. Ucho has been nationally recognized as “The Man of the Moment of the Year 2021”. He continues to hold influential leadership roles in the PTI National Alumni Association as Vice President and in the University of Ibadan Petroleum Engineering Alumni Association in an Ex-officio capacity.
During the Fellowship conferment, the oath of ethical leadership was administered by Professor Michael Onyekonwu, a luminary in petroleum engineering and academia. Engr.
