Abuja, Nigeria — Beneath the glittering lights of the Armed Forces Officers’ Mess, Asokoro Ballroom, Ambassador Dr. Ogochuku Okekpolo was conferred the Highstone Global University Fellowship Award, an accolade reserved for leaders whose careers are defined by vision, integrity, and transformative impact.

Her name, when announced, reverberated through the hall, signaling a new dawn of leadership, responsibility, and service, as she stood as an embodiment of virtue and poise, admired by a gathering of esteemed guests, industry leaders, and policymakers.

While speaking with newsmen on the sidelines of the ceremony, Ambassador Dr. Ogochuku Okekpolo articulated a profound perspective on leadership, emphasizing that true authority emanates from action, not title.

“Leadership begins with you; it is not defined by a designation, but by what you do. It is not a platform for self-glorification,” she asserted, underscoring the essence of authentic service and responsibility.

She further exhorted leaders across all sectors to adopt a people-centered leadership framework, advocating for the systematic development of human capital, capacity building, and the deliberate expansion of potential.

“Leaders must envision and implement strategies that elevate others, broaden horizons, and cultivate opportunities that endure beyond their own tenure. The measure of leadership is not personal acclaim, but the lasting impact on those you serve,” she emphasized.

Her remarks resonated deeply with the audience, reinforcing the ceremony’s overarching theme that true leadership is anchored in service, mentorship, and transformative influence.

Dr. Okekpolo holds an MBA in Sustainability from Nextford University and is a Certified Management Consultant, credentials that underscore her strategic insight, professional acumen, and commitment to organizational excellence.

Her career is a testament to dedication, hard work, and an unyielding passion for leadership. As Executive Director of Corporate Services at Bicens Resources Limited, she has steered multiple departments with vision, integrity, and operational efficiency, fostering a culture of growth, innovation, and ethical leadership.

Beyond corporate leadership, Dr. Okekpolo has been a trailblazer for women in traditionally male-dominated sectors. As a founding director of Women in Energy Oil and Gas (WEOG), she has championed the inclusion, advancement, and mentorship of women, inspiring countless professionals to pursue careers in STEM, energy, and executive leadership.

Through her advocacy, mentorship programs, and strategic initiatives, she has broken barriers, promoted equity, and demonstrated that leadership excellence is not constrained by gender but defined by vision, skill, and commitment.

“This fellowship is a recognition not only of past achievements but of the responsibility to continue leading with integrity, empowering others, and shaping future leaders,” Dr. Okekpolo reflected.

The fellowship award highlights Highstone Global University’s commitment to celebrating transformative leaders, particularly those whose influence transcends professional boundaries to impact communities, institutions, and industries.
