Dr. Kingsley Onuche Inaugurates Peace Ambassadors, Promoting Grassroots Solutions for Nigeria’s Growth

Abuja – In a landmark event that underscored the critical role of grassroots empowerment in nation-building, Dr. Kingsley Onuche, President of the Peace Advocacy Network, officially inaugurated the 2025 Peace Ambassadors of Nigeria at the illustrious Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja. The ceremony convened over a thousand participants, including political leaders, traditional rulers, civil society advocates, industry leaders, and vibrant youths from across the country, all united to celebrate outstanding contributions to peace, unity, and community development.

The event, themed “Nigeria First: Grassroots Solutions for National Growth,” highlighted the pivotal role of citizens at the grassroots level in shaping sustainable development. In his address, Dr. Kingsley Onuche emphasized the transformative potential of the youth and community leaders, stating:

"The inauguration of these Peace Ambassadors represents a monumental step in putting Nigeria first. These young men and women are not just participants—they are agents of change, tasked with providing practical solutions from the grassroots, fostering unity, and driving national growth."

He further urged the new ambassadors to champion dialogue, resolve conflicts, and inspire societal transformation, reminding them that peace is the foundation upon which prosperity, progress, and national unity are built.

The ceremony was elevated by the presence of Her Excellency, Dr. Ambassador Maryam Sani Abacha, who graced the occasion as the Mother of the Day, lending her prestigious support to the initiative. The First Lady of Bauchi State, Aisha Bala Mohammed, also addressed the gathering, advocating for peaceful coexistence, rejecting ethnic violence, and emphasizing the role of grassroots initiatives in fostering national unity and sustainable development.

In attendance were key government officials, including Bauchi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Alhaji Usman Shehu Usman, and Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Hajiya Zainab Baban Takko, alongside traditional rulers and civil society leaders. Their presence reinforced the event’s status as a defining moment in Nigeria’s peace and development journey.

Among the highlights of the ceremony was the recognition of two distinguished leaders from Bauchi State who received special awards for their humanitarian and community development contributions:

Alhaji Zaharaddeen Aminu Abubakar (Dujiman Giade) – Honored for his relentless humanitarian work, particularly in supporting orphans and vulnerable groups, and for implementing programs that strengthen social cohesion and community peace.

 Alhaji Sirajo Ibrahim Tanko (Makaman Giade) – Celebrated for his unwavering commitment to fostering community harmony, grassroots empowerment, and development initiatives that have transformed local communities.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Kingsley Onuche stated:

"Recognizing these remarkable individuals is a testament to their tireless dedication, selfless service, and unshakable commitment to the values that bind our nation. Peace is not just a goal—it is the foundation on which sustainable development and national progress are built."

The Peace Ambassadors program aims to mobilize youths and community leaders nationwide to actively participate in conflict resolution, humanitarian service, and advocacy at the grassroots level. Through workshops, community projects, and collaborative initiatives, the program empowers citizens to be proactive change-makers, ensuring that solutions to societal challenges originate from within the communities themselves.
