Applause as Comr. Clever Inodu Bags Peace Ambassador Award, Inducted as Fellow of ICRPC
Abuja, Nigeria – September 27, 2025.
The halls resounded with thunderous applause as Comrade Clever Inodu, the immediate past Chairman of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Central Zone, attained a dual honour — being inducted as a Fellow of the Institute for Crisis Resolution, Peacebuilding and Conciliation (ICRPC) and decorated as a Peace Ambassador.
The memorable occasion, held at the illustrious Novare Mall, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, provided a grand stage for leaders and changemakers in peace and development. On that evening, the searchlight shone brightly on Comrade Clever Inodu, whose name echoed among the distinguished honorees. Surrounded by esteemed personalities and celebrated figures, his induction as a Fellow of the Institute for Crisis Resolution, Peacebuilding and Conciliation (ICRPC) and conferment as a Peace Ambassador drew resounding applause, marking him out as a figure of exceptional influence in the Niger Delta and beyond.
This double recognition marks not only a personal triumph but also a powerful validation of his relentless pursuit of peace, justice, and sustainable development in the Niger Delta.
For decades, the Niger Delta has been at the epicenter of resource struggles, communal tensions, and youth restiveness. Yet, leaders like Clever Inodu have emerged as stabilizing forces, proving that constructive dialogue and visionary leadership can heal longstanding divides. His role in transforming conflicts into platforms for negotiation has earned him a reputation as one of the region’s most dependable voices of reason and reconciliation.
From his student activism days at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST), where he championed the rights of marginalized Bayelsa students, to his stewardship as Chairman of the IYC Central Zone, Inodu has consistently embodied the ideals of peace, fairness, and equity.
Inodu’s political trajectory is a glowing testament to loyalty, resilience, and capacity. His career began humbly in 2007 as Personal Assistant to Hon. Kuromioye Tekena, then Chairman of the Petroleum Task Force. By 2011, his organizational genius saw him appointed as Youth Coordinator, Directorate of Youth Mobilisation in the historic campaign that brought Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson to power.
Clever Inodu’s steady rise in public service has been marked not by accident, but by a consistent track record of loyalty, capacity, and impact. His journey reflects the story of a young leader who turned every opportunity into a platform for peacebuilding, youth empowerment, and grassroots development.
In 2012, he was appointed Member and Coordinator of the Bayelsa State Youth Development Committee, a role that gave him the platform to address youth restiveness through education, skills acquisition, and mentorship. By mobilizing young people towards constructive engagement, he helped reduce the tensions that often sparked communal unrest, laying a foundation for peace and stability.
His impressive results caught the eye of the state leadership, and in 2015 he was elevated to Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development. In this capacity, he designed and supported initiatives that bridged the gap between government and marginalized communities, particularly in riverine areas where youths often felt excluded. His approach—anchored on dialogue and inclusion—strengthened trust between the state and its young population, earning him a reputation as a peace advocate who listened to the people.
By 2019, his tested loyalty and pragmatic leadership saw him appointed Special Adviser to the Governor on Grassroot Mobilisation and Orientation. Here, his mandate expanded to reconciling fractured communities, strengthening civic orientation, and mobilizing citizens for development projects. His work in grassroots mobilization was particularly praised for transforming political campaigns into vehicles of unity rather than division, and for deploying negotiation and persuasion instead of confrontation.
Each of these appointments, observers note, was not just a promotion but a recognition of his proven ability to mobilize, inspire, and reconcile communities across divides. In every role, Inodu placed peacebuilding at the center of his strategy, showing that governance and stability are inseparable.
Today, as both Fellow of the Institute for Crisis Resolution, Peacebuilding and Conciliation (FICRPC) and a decorated Peace Ambassador, Clever Inodu’s leadership trajectory serves as a shining model for the Niger Delta—proving that when vision meets courage, the cycle of conflict can be broken, and the culture of peace can take root.
Inodu’s leadership is not only about politics; it is deeply rooted in advocacy for a better Niger Delta. Through his initiative, “I Pledge for a Better Niger Delta,” he gave structure to the aspirations of Ijaw youths and created a platform for inclusive governance. He remains one of the strongest voices against marginalization, using dialogue instead of violence, education instead of ignorance, and empowerment instead of exploitation.
As IYC Central Zone Chairman, he demonstrated courage and tact, balancing the delicate demands of youth agitation with the imperatives of peace and development. Observers note that his tenure was one of the most unifying eras for the Council, where his pragmatic leadership won admiration across ethnic and political divides.
To his admirers, Clever Inodu is a bridge-builder, tested and trusted, a trailblazer of inestimable value. His humility, bravery, and unshaken loyalty to the ideals of justice continue to make him a leader worthy of emulation.
Now, with his induction as Fellow of ICRPC (FICRPC) and conferment as a Peace Ambassador, he stands tall as an authority in peacebuilding, not only for Bayelsa but for the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large.
These honours place him in the circle of Africa’s respected conflict-resolution practitioners, providing him a stronger platform to influence policies, mediate disputes, and empower the next generation of peace leaders.
His newest honours reaffirm that in the heart of the Niger Delta beats a leader whose mission is to heal, to reconcile, and to build bridges of peace where others see walls of division.
