STOBA 01 SET TO UPGRADE SCHOOL WITH NEW CLASSROOM BLOCK
Abuja, Nigeria — August 16, 2025
The Old School Association, STOBA 01, successfully held its Annual General Convention at the Military Resource Centre, Abuja, from August 15–16, 2025, drawing a distinguished gathering of alumni, education advocates, policymakers, and community leaders. Themed “Old School Association: Catalyst for National Development,” the convention highlighted the association’s commitment to fostering collaboration, celebrating achievements, and driving societal progress.
A major highlight of the two-day event was the discussion of development projects and initiatives aimed at improving the association’s alma mater. President Mr. Amadi Chinedu expressed concern over the state of some school buildings, recalling that the last visit to the institution had been disheartening due to the presence of dilapidated structures. “Seeing these buildings in such a condition was a wake-up call for the 2001 set. It is a situation that demands urgent action,” he said.
In response, Mr. Chinedu announced that a new four-classroom block would be constructed and officially commissioned at STOBA 01’s upcoming National Annual Summit in Enugu, scheduled before the end of the year. He described the initiative as a tangible demonstration of the association’s dedication to enhancing educational infrastructure and supporting learning communities. “This project is a testament to our collective vision of promoting quality education, nurturing young minds, and contributing meaningfully to national development,” he added.
The announcement was met with widespread acclaim from association members and stakeholders, who praised the proactive approach of combining alumni engagement with community service. The upcoming Enugu summit is expected to bring together members from across the country to witness the commissioning of the classroom block, marking a significant milestone in the association’s ongoing efforts to empower students and transform the learning environment.
Over the years, STOBA 01 has distinguished itself as a platform for alumni networking, mentorship, and advocacy, consistently promoting initiatives that positively impact education and community growth. This latest project further reinforces the association’s role as a catalyst for national development, blending the spirit of alumni solidarity with practical interventions that leave lasting societal impact.
As the association looks forward to the Enugu summit, members are encouraged to actively participate in programs that drive educational excellence and community empowerment, ensuring that the legacy of STOBA 01 continues to inspire and transform lives across Nigeria.
The recent deliberations and project announcements at STOBA 01’s Annual General Convention underscore the association’s unwavering commitment to education, alumni solidarity, and national progress. By addressing pressing infrastructural challenges and translating concern into tangible action, STOBA 01 continues to set a benchmark for how alumni networks can drive meaningful societal change.
With the upcoming four-classroom block in Enugu as a symbol of its dedication, the association not only strengthens its legacy but also inspires a renewed sense of purpose among members, students, and the wider community. Truly, STOBA 01 remains a beacon of vision, service, and transformative impact—demonstrating that collective action, guided by passion and responsibility, can leave an enduring mark on the nation.
