Abuja, Nigeria — August 2, 2025 — The National Merit Award House, Maitama, Abuja, played host to a distinguished gathering of academics, business leaders, and dignitaries as Samuel Ucha, Chief Executive Officer of Champion Properties, Abuja, was conferred with an honorary doctorate by the British American Open University (BAOU), California.

The conferment ceremony, which took place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, was presided over by an illustrious panel: Vice Chancellor Professor David Bruce Day; Vice President Professor Walter Parrish Terry; African Regional Director Professor Paul Godwin Udofla; and Professor Ihechukwu Madubuike, Chairman of the Governing Council and former Minister of Education.

Delivering the keynote charge to the recipients, Professor David Bruce Day, Vice Chancellor of BAOU, emphasized that the honorary doctorate represents far more than an accolade for past achievements.

“This honor is a solemn call to responsibility,” he declared. “It is a recognition not only of the heights you have reached, but of the greater heights to which you must now aspire. The weight of this degree is measured in the values you embody — integrity, accountability, and service to humanity. As recipients, you must inspire trust in every sphere you influence.”

For Samuel Ucha, whose real estate enterprise has shaped some of the capital city’s notable property landmarks, the award was a celebration of years of entrepreneurial excellence, visionary leadership, and community impact. From the foundation of Champion Properties to its expansion into a market leader in Abuja’s competitive real estate sector, his story is one of resilience, strategic acumen, and an unwavering commitment to delivering quality.

The ceremony was marked by a blend of academic decorum and cultural elegance, with the recipients robed in the university’s colors, symbolizing their new role as ambassadors of BAOU’s ideals. Family, friends, and business associates of Ucha were on hand to share in the moment, with applause echoing through the hall as his name was called.

In his brief remarks after receiving the award, Ucha expressed gratitude to the institution for the recognition, dedicating it to his team, clients, and community. He reaffirmed his commitment to ethical business practices and to using his platform to create opportunities for others.

In his reflections, Dr. Samuel Ucha described the honorary doctorate as both a humbling recognition and a renewed call to expand his contributions beyond business into broader community impact. He reaffirmed his commitment to using his platform at Champion Properties to create opportunities, mentor young entrepreneurs, and champion ethical corporate practices in Nigeria’s real estate sector.

For the British American Open University, the conferment underscored its global mission to identify, celebrate, and empower leaders whose professional and humanitarian footprints transcend borders.
