Abuja — Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Ogundile Akinlabi Kolajo, Head of the Peace and Conflict Resolution Unit at Zone 7 Police Headquarters, has been conferred with a Doctoral Fellowship Award by the Institute of Global Peace and Conflict Management

In a hall where honor met history, the blue of the police uniform gleamed with new meaning. At the prestigious Barcelona Hotel, Abuja, on Saturday, August 30, 2025, Ambassador Ogundile Akinlabi Kolajo, walked into the spotlight not merely as an officer of law, but as a steward of peace. Before an audience of eminent dignitaries, top management experts, and industry leaders,

The moment was more than ceremonial; it was a recognition of a career devoted to bridging divides, resolving disputes, and upholding the higher calling of peace within the framework of policing.

President of the Institute, Dr. Ambassador Adetunberu Oludotun, hailed CSP Ogundile as “a beacon of peace whose service in uniform has gone beyond law enforcement to nation-building.” Supporting this, the Registrar, Hon. Ambassador Joshua Tarhule, charged him and fellow inductees to “carry the fellowship as a mantle of ethical leadership and a renewed call to service.”

CSP Ogundile is not just a senior police officer; he is a seasoned conflict-resolution practitioner. Serving as Head of the Peace and Conflict Resolutions Unit at Zone 7 Police Headquarters in Abuja, he has distinguished himself as a mediator whose approach to policing extends beyond enforcement into reconciliation. His professional journey demonstrates a blend of firmness in duty and gentleness in dialogue — qualities rare and commendable in a society striving for peace amidst complexity.

Through years of service, Ogundile has been instrumental in de-escalating communal tensions, promoting police-community relations, and mentoring younger officers in the ethics of peacebuilding. His work within the Force has consistently highlighted that law and order cannot be sustained without dialogue, trust, and fairness.

Receiving the fellowship, a visibly elated CSP Ogundile described the recognition as both humbling and elevating. “This award is timely, and it will certainly advance my professional journey. It challenges me to strengthen my contributions to peacebuilding, not only within the Nigeria Police Force but in the wider Nigerian society,” he said.

He further praised the Institute of Global Peace and Conflict Management for championing peace initiatives, urging it to deepen collaborations with law enforcement agencies and government institutions. “I will continue to lead the crusade for peace, uphold the ethical standards of this Institute, and advance initiatives that foster unity and reconciliation across our nation,” Ogundile assured.

The conferment was described by attendees as a timely acknowledgment of the evolving role of the Nigeria Police Force in peacebuilding. Dignitaries at the ceremony emphasized that awards such as this highlight the human face of policing — showing officers not only as enforcers of the law but as custodians of societal harmony.

Institute leaders noted that CSP Ogundile’s contributions exemplify the vision of the fellowship: to honor individuals whose professional and personal lives advance peace, ethical leadership, and conflict resolution.

As the fellowship medallion rested on his chest, the symbolism was not lost on the audience: the police uniform, often associated with authority and control, now shone as an emblem of peace and reconciliation. For CSP Ogundile, the award was not simply personal achievement but also a reflection of the Nigeria Police Force’s broader capacity to serve as agents of unity and nation-building.

The evening at Barcelona Hotel was more than an induction ceremony; it was a narrative of transformation. In conferring the Doctoral Fellowship Award on CSP Ambassador Ogundile Akinlabi Kolajo, the Institute of Global Peace and Conflict Management celebrated not only the man but also the idea that the police uniform can symbolize peace as much as it symbolizes law.
With this honor, Dr.Ogundile’s trajectory as a peace and conflict resolution expert has been further affirmed, reinforcing his role as one of Nigeria’s frontline ambassadors of peace within the corridors of law enforcement.
