Abuja, Nigeria — July 1st, 2025

In what is being described as a strategic diplomatic endorsement of gender-focused innovation in Africa, His Excellency, Prof. Tunji John Asaolu, the Secretary General of the United World Congress of Diplomats, has been confirmed as the Keynote Speaker and Grand Patron for the upcoming Connect Her Network Mobile App Launch and National Women’s Impact Conference.

This announcement was made by Ambassador Ojiah Victoria Ogwuche, Founder of the Connect Network Foundation, during a phone conversation with Newsway Media Reporters on Tuesday

“We are deeply honored to have His Excellency, Prof. Tunji John Asaolu, not only as a keynote speaker but as one of the Grand Patrons of the Connect Her Initiative. His international standing and commitment to women’s empowerment make his involvement a profound source of inspiration and legitimacy for our mission,” she said.

The dual event, scheduled for August 9, 2025, at the Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja, marks a major milestone in the Connect Network Foundation’s journey to digitize access to empowerment resources for women across Nigeria and beyond.

Prof. Asaolu, a seasoned diplomat, global peace advocate, and respected figure in multilateral circles, is known for his unwavering dedication to inclusive governance, youth development, and the advancement of women in leadership.

As Secretary General of the United World Congress of Diplomats, he represents a growing coalition of international stakeholders focused on sustainable development through diplomacy, collaboration, and innovation.

“Connect Her is more than an app — it is a global awakening. A diplomatic bridge between opportunity, innovation, and inclusive leadership for women across nations. I am proud to lend my full capacity to this transformational mission,” Prof. Asaolu remarked in a statement ahead of the event.

His keynote address is expected to highlight the critical role of diplomatic engagement in accelerating gender equity, particularly in the Global South, and how digital tools like the Connect Her App can serve as powerful instruments for socioeconomic transformation.

The Connect Her Network Mobile App is a first-of-its-kind platform tailored to provide free, verified access for women to mentorship opportunities, grants, learning resources, CSR initiatives, business tools, and international development programs. Designed with both functionality and impact in mind, the app also serves as a gender data engine, enabling evidence-based policy interventions for both public and private institutions.

Ambassador Ogwuche, the driving force behind the initiative, emphasized that the app was developed in response to the glaring gaps in access, opportunity, and institutional support for women, especially in rural and underserved communities.

“With this platform, we are building a digital bridge across class, geography, and gender — allowing every woman, whether in Lagos, Lokoja or Liberia, to access the tools she needs to rise,” she added.

The presence of H.E. Prof. Asaolu as keynote speaker elevates the program to a continental conversation, inviting policymakers, development agencies, business leaders, and youth advocates to collectively support women’s digital empowerment as a strategic development imperative.

Stakeholders from across Africa and beyond are expected to attend the launch and conference, including representatives from regional blocs, diplomatic missions, multilateral agencies, and women-led organizations.

The confirmation of H.E. Prof. Tunji John Asaolu as keynote speaker at the Connect Her Network App Launch and National Women’s Impact Conference is more than a ceremonial endorsement — it is a strategic diplomatic alignment that amplifies the initiative’s global relevance. His presence underscores the critical role of international diplomacy in advancing inclusive innovation and gender equality. As stakeholders across Africa and the global community converge in Abuja this August, the event is poised to catalyze a new era of tech-driven empowerment for women — bridging the gap between policy, purpose, and progress.

As Africa continues its push toward inclusive governance, digital transformation, and sustainable development, initiatives like Connect Her are emerging as practical, scalable solutions at the intersection of technology, gender, and diplomacy.
