Egbudu-Akah Progressive Association Leads Peace Call Amid Kingship Tension, Urges Dialogue and Calm

EGBUDU-AKAH, DELTA STATE – As tensions simmer over the kingship in Egbudu-Akah, the Egbudu-Akah Progressive Association (EPA) has issued a strong call for peace, urging aggrieved factions and the wider community to prioritize dialogue, unity, and the enduring traditions of the land.

At a press briefing on Monday, Dr. Ambassador Okocha Morgan, the Secretary of the association, described the situation as worrisome, citing the growing tension and its potential threat to the harmony and identity of Egbudu-Akah.

“This development is deeply troubling. We cannot allow internal division to consume the peace our forefathers fought to preserve,” Dr. Okocha Morgan said. “We urge everyone to choose dialogue over confrontation and peace over provocation. Our history demands it, and our future depends on it.”

In the face of rising emotions and generational sentiments, the Egbudu-Akah Progressive Association (EPA) has officially endorsed His Royal Majesty, Obi Augustine Nzemeke Ezeagwuna Okolie (III) and chosen the higher path of dialogue, inclusion, and respect for tradition. With the unanimous backing of its national leadership, the association has reaffirmed a timeless truth — that no community thrives in an atmosphere of strife and division.

The EPA’s position reflects not only a commitment to cultural continuity, but also a call for collective healing and maturity. It is a reminder that royalty is rooted in heritage, and that the future of Egbudu-Akah can only be built through unity, not rivalry.

With the State Government’s formal presentation of the Staff of Office to His Royal Majesty, Obi Augustine Nzemeke Ezeagwuna Okolie (III), the traditional leadership of Egbudu-Akah has been duly recognized under the law and customary protocol.

This decisive endorsement affirms the legitimacy of the throne and settles the question of succession. In light of this, the Egbudu-Akah Progressive Association (EPA) is calling on all sons and daughters of the land—regardless of past grievances—to rally behind the monarch, respect constituted authority, and embrace the path of reconciliation.

Now is the time to restore the spirit of togetherness that Egbudu-Akah is known for. The EPA encourages every citizen to set aside sentiments and join hands in building a peaceful, united, and prosperous community under the leadership of the duly installed Obi.

The future of Egbudu-Akah lies not in conflict, but in cooperation. With the throne secured, and the voice of peace growing stronger, the community has a fresh chance to move forward — together, in dignity and Unity

The EPA, a legally registered socio-cultural body with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), reiterated its full support for His Royal Majesty, Obi Augustine Nzemeke Ezeagwuna Okolie (III), whom they described as the legitimate monarch and Grand Patron of the Association.

His Royal Majesty, Obi Augustine Nzemeke Ezeagwuna Okolie (III), has shown leadership by opening his heart and palace to peace initiatives, calling on all aggrieved parties to come forward not as opponents, but as children of the same soil. This royal gesture, supported by the EPA’s ongoing mediation efforts, offers Egbudu-Akah a golden opportunity to heal, reflect, and rebuild.

As stakeholders prepare for the peace and reconciliation meeting, the message is clear: now is the time to set aside bitterness, misunderstandings, and ego, and embrace the values of unity, mutual respect, and ancestral pride.

The future of Egbudu-Akah lies not in the weight of the present conflict, but in the strength of its ability to resolve it. Let every son and daughter rise to this call for peace. Let dialogue replace discontent. Let brotherhood triumph over bitterness. Let the voice of unity echo louder than the noise of division.

In unity, Egbudu-Akah will stand stronger — not just as a community, but as a people rooted in dignity, peace, and purpose.

Speaking alongside the Secretary, EPA President General  Amb John onwes, and National Treasurer, Engr. Okonkwo Moses Ndidi, emphasized the need for collective maturity in addressing grievances, especially among the youth.

“We stand firmly behind our king, His Royal Majesty Obi Augustine III,” said the President General. “We appeal to every son and daughter of Egbudu-Akah to rally around the throne and protect the values that unite us.”

In a demonstration of leadership and inclusion, His Royal Highness has announced plans for a peace and reconciliation meeting, which will bring together elders, youth leaders, traditional custodians, and community stakeholders. The aim is to chart a course for sustainable peace and resolve differences amicably.

In his response, His Royal Majesty Obi Augustine III praised the EPA’s intervention, calling it timely and patriotic. He reaffirmed his own role as a unifier and spiritual father to all segments of the community.

“This throne does not belong to one side or one family—it belongs to all of Egbudu-Akah. I remain a father to every citizen, and I am open to peace, reconciliation, and healing,” the monarch said. “Let us speak as one voice, and let that voice be for peace.”

The EPA also warned against inflammatory rhetoric and misinformation spreading on social media, cautioning that such actions only deepen mistrust and undermine community cohesion.

“No one gains from chaos,” added Dr. Okocha Morgan. “Let us de-escalate the situation and show maturity. The world is watching, and history will remember how we responded to this moment.”

The Egbudu-Akah Progressive Association, long known for its work in peacebuilding, civic enlightenment, and community development, reaffirmed its commitment to serving as a bridge between the throne and the people, advocating for inclusiveness and progress.

As the call for calm resonates across the kingdom, hopes are high that wisdom, tradition, and unity will once again prevail in Egbudu-Akah.
