Antai T. Sammy, the seasoned Chief Executive Director of Sabrella Academy Ltd, has been honored with the prestigious title of Ambassador of Global Peace by the Institute for Global Peace and Conflict Resolution (IGPCR). The recognition is a tribute to his unwavering commitment to peacebuilding, conflict resolution, inter-religious dialogue, and sustainable development across Nigeria.
The award ceremony, held at the Barcelona Hotel in Abuja, brought together dignitaries, civil society leaders, academics, and professionals to celebrate individuals making significant contributions to peace and social justice. The highlight of the evening was the conferral of Ambassadorial Awards, including that of Ambassador Antai, who was lauded for his visionary leadership and dedication to unity, human rights, and mutual understanding in Nigeria’s diverse communities.
In partnership with the Protestant University, IGPCR also recognized other distinguished individuals for their humanitarian service and ethical leadership. This collaboration underscored the importance of academic institutions in shaping civic responsibility and cultivating peace.
Ambassador Sammy’s work spans grassroots advocacy, policy engagement for marginalized groups, leadership in international peace initiatives, capacity-building for community leaders, and promotion of educational programs that foster intercultural understanding and tolerance.
In a press interview following the award, Ambassador Sammy expressed heartfelt gratitude to IGPCR, pledging to intensify his peace advocacy efforts, especially among students at Sabrella Academy. “When we raise peaceful homes, we raise peaceful communities, and ultimately, a peaceful nation,” he said. “It pays to embrace and work for peace.”
He emphasized the need to start peacebuilding at the family and community levels and called for youth participation in managing conflict and promoting peace initiatives. He also urged the government to invest more in education, particularly in northern Nigeria, where out-of-school rates remain high. “Education is a tool that can reshape minds and foster peaceful coexistence,” he stated.
The event served as both a celebration and a rallying cry, reminding Nigerians that lasting peace is achievable through collective empathy, respect, and action. Ambassador Sammy’s honor is a call to every citizen: to be architects of peace in their own communities, schools, and homes.
The Peace Ambassador Awards not only celebrated individual achievements but also highlighted a growing national movement committed to unity, reconciliation, and social transformation
