By Newsway Media Exclusive

In a spiritually uplifting and intellectually engaging gathering, prominent Muslim professionals, scholars, and dignitaries convened for an event focused on Da'awah and the critical role of Waqf (Islamic endowment) in uplifting the Ummah. The program, held at a serene Islamic center, drew participants from various sectors including education, health, business, and religious organizations.

The occasion was graced by notable guest speakers who enlightened attendees on the Islamic and socio-economic benefits of Waqf as a form of continuous charity (sadaqah jariyah) that sustains community development while earning eternal rewards for the donor.

In his keynote address, Dr. Taofeek Thani, a respected Islamic scholar and humanitarian advocate, lauded the organizers for their foresight and dedication to Islamic values. Speaking to Newsway Media Exclusive, he emphasized that Waqf remains one of the most sustainable tools for alleviating poverty, empowering communities, and promoting Islamic civilization throughout history.

“This initiative reflects the prophetic tradition of promoting Waqf as a means of ensuring long-term benefits for the Ummah. It is not just about giving, but about strategically investing in the future of Islam and humanity,” Dr. Thani stated.

He further encouraged participants to reflect deeply on the lectures delivered and to implement the principles of Waqf in their personal and professional lives. According to him, the event is not only a call to action but a reminder that every Muslim has a role to play in service to Allah and humanity.

“Let us leverage the teachings shared today and embody unwavering integrity, compassion, and cooperation. The strength of the Muslim Ummah lies in our unity, love for one another, and commitment to shared progress,” he added.

The lectures delivered by scholars at the event covered topics such as:

  • The Historical Roots and Legacy of Waqf in Islam
  • Waqf as a Mechanism for Social Justice and Economic Empowerment
  • The Role of Muslim Professionals in Modern-Day Da'awah
  • Integrating Waqf into National Development Plans

Attendees were inspired to consider establishing personal or organizational Awqaf in areas such as education, healthcare, and community welfare, echoing the practices of early Muslims who built schools, hospitals, and mosques through Waqf.

The event concluded with prayers for peace, unity, and the continued growth of Islamic values in both public and private life. Participants left with renewed zeal to contribute to the Ummah and uphold the timeless principles of Islam through strategic Da'awah and sustainable charitable initiatives.
