Rep Member, Victor Obuzor calls for Dialogue as CIMICO holds Conference

 Honourable Victor Obuzor, a member of the House of Representatives, has emphasized the importance of dialogue during an annual Civil -Military conference (CIMICO) held  in Abuja on Monday being 24th March, 2025. 

Honourable Obuzor is known for his advocacy on various issues, including civil society matters and international concerns. His call for dialogue has aligned with broader efforts to foster collaboration and address societal challenges through constructive engagement among stakeholders.

Hon. Victor Obuzor, Chairman of the House Committee on Civil Society Organizations and Development Matters, emphasized the importance of collaborative strategies for security and development during an annual Civil-Military conference in Abuja. The conference, themed "Collaborative Strategies on Security and Development, A Global Perspective," highlights the need for integrated approaches involving civil society, military, and other stakeholders to achieve sustainable peace and development. This aligns with his previous advocacy for cohesion between CSOs, development partners, and government to ensure transparency and good governance

Honourable Victor's assertion that military intervention alone cannot solve the problems of insurgency and banditry in Nigeria highlights the need for a multifaceted approach. This involves collaborative efforts between civil society organizations (CSOs), development partners, and international alignment.

To enhance security and ensure peace, Honourable Victor's call for stakeholders to prioritize dialogue, leverage technology, and engage in community collaboration is crucial. 

His statement underscores the importance of dialogue, collaboration, and collective efforts in maintaining peace and sustaining development and progress. This collaborative framework supports the idea that peace and development are interdependent and require a unified approach to achieve lasting results.

He acknowledges the crucial roles of civil society organizations (CSOs), development partners, and the military in securing peace.  Also emphasizes that peace is a prerequisite for sustainable development. 

" He  emphasizes the importance of accountability, transparency, and inclusiveness in guiding collective efforts. It highlights the role of the National Assembly in ensuring that civil society organizations' (CSOs) activities align with national peace goals. This approach underscores the need for oversight to ensure that CSOs contribute effectively to peacebuilding while maintaining transparency and accountability in their  operations 

Honourable Victor Obuzor, as Chairman of the House Committee on Civil Society Organizations, has reaffirmed the House of Representatives' commitment to fostering good policies and legislative frameworks that enhance civic-military cooperation,  integrated approach aims to support security, peace, and development. 

He urged the participants to leverage on technology, foster  collaboration by involving community members in decision-making processes. This can be achieved through forums, advisory boards, and neighborhood watch programs, promoting a sense of shared responsibility. Also, engagement  with local organizations to tailor security solutions to specific community needs, ensuring broader acceptance and effectiveness.
