Abdulrashid Abubakar Inducted as NIOB Fellow, Advocates Professionalism

Bldr. Abdulrashid Abubakar, Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Building's Gombe State Chapter, was recently inducted into the esteemed class of fellows at the Nigerian Institute of Builders' induction and awards ceremony in Abuja's M&M.

The Nigerian Institute of Building is pleased to acknowledge his exceptional accomplishments by conferring upon him the distinction of fellowship. This recognition serves as a testament to his unshakeable commitment to excellence and dedication to advancing the building profession.

The event was declared open by the President and Chairman of the council of the institute, 

Abdulrashid Abubakar was awarded a fellowship alongside other accomplished members at a notable event that drew significant attendance.

Upon receiving the honor, Bldr. Abdulrashid Abubakar observed, "This recognition stimulates me, and as a fellow of this esteemed organization, I am inspired to expand my previous achievements and establish exceptional systems and institutions that promote excellence for millions of Nigerians.

Abubakar, in an interview with journalists, stated that professional builders play a crucial role in the building production process, ensuring that they meet the expectations of the Nigerian people by delivering high-quality, affordable, safe, and durable buildings.
Abdulrashid expressed readiness to safeguard the interests of society in the building construction, maintenance, and preservation of building stock.

"He reconfirmed his steadfast devotion to discharging his professional duties with integrity, maintaining ethical standards and leveraging his vast experience in developing policies and mentoring young professionals.

"He acknowledged that the building delivery process from design to construction relies on teamwork, with each participant contributing their expertise, and stressed that, with utmost responsibility to safeguard lives and properties, Nigerian law assigns the task of building construction, maintenance, and deconstruction solely to registered builders

Among the 36 inductees were a traditional ruler, public servant, high ranking academics and university administrators, technocrats, accomplished private sector entrepreneurs and researchers.

Meanwhile, the  Nigerian Institute of Building NIOB, has charged its newly-inducted Fellows to adhere to professionalism in the course of discharging their duties as professional builders.

NIOB boss further charged the inductees to bring their wealth of experience to bear in policy formulation and mentoring of younger professionals.

The National Secretary of NIOB, Bldr Mahmood, made this assertion at the induction of new members into the fellowship cadre, stating that Nigerian society would reap maximum benefits by recognizing building production management as a distinct professional service offered by builders.

He proposed that the Federal government establish a National Builders Court to discipline and prosecute offenders, thereby decreasing the incidence of building collapse.
