Gwar Terngu Bags Honorary PhD, Peace Achievers’ Awards

The institute for Global peace and Conflicts Management  has confered  an Honorary Doctorate Degree on Gwar Terngu for his roles in peace building.

Dr Terngu Gwar was honoured alongside other eminent Nigerians drawn from different backgrounds at the 2nd edition of the prestigious institute of Global peace and Conflicts Management annual Peace Building  Awards and Induction Summit, which took place on Saturday at  Barcelona hotel  in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

This esteemed recognition comes as a testament to Dr. Terngu's unwavering determination to excellence and his thoughts role in peace building 

The conferment ceremony which took place in Abuja being 30th November, 2024, further reinforces Terngu's commitment to excellence and his role as a thought leader in peace building in Nigeria.

While addressing the newsmen on the sideline of the event, Terngu lauded the institute and the organisers of the Awards for celebrating his diligence and service in peace building.In response to the honour, Dr.Gwar expressed gratitude and humility, stating, “Receiving this honorary doctorate award is a reminder of the responsibility we all bear to contribute positively to the world.

Terngu said the award means more to him than he can express. “I am grateful for this acknowledgement of the work that we have been doing to promote peace, and kindness to humanity.

The alated Terngu is a dynamic and versatile professional of many sides with over  decades of multi-sectoral experience as a seasoned human rights expert 

"He is versed with wealth of experience spanning almost two decades and half in peace building, working with human rights Commission. 

While appreciating the institute for  the incredible honour,  he said, together, we will continue to work towards a world where peace, compassion, and kindness are the foundation of everything we do”.

"He maintained that peace building is a process and a collective responsibility of all and this award  will  spur me to do more 

The president of the institute, Dr Asiwju Adetuberu Oludotun  who conducted the conferment rites, urged the recipients of the honour to be good ambassadors of the institute.

He explained that Gwar Terngu and others were honoured with the doctorate degree because of thier prudence, integrity and excellence in leadership, and service to humanity.

The Registrar of the institute,  Amb. Joshua Tarhule, who congratulated the recipients, said the Peace Achievers Award recognises individuals who have contributed immensely to nation-building, through peace-driven initiatives, education and youth empowerment.

He, therefore, urged the awardees to see the honour as a ‘higher calling’ towards deeper commitment to peace building in Nigeria, Africa and the world at large.

“The  Doctoral fellowship Peace Awards is a private initiative of peace  IGPCM to recognize individuals and organisations in Africa who have demonstrated strong commitment in serving their communities.

“We are building a movement involving all sectors of the society that promote peace and unity in Africa.

“There is no better time than this to honour outstanding personalities like you, so together we can build a global partnership for peace,” he said.

Registrar, Joshua explained that although there were a lot of patriotic men and women, who have contributed meaningfully in the peace building project in Nigeria, it was imperative to honour the ‘outstanding’ ones like Gwar 

Dr.Gwar is an emerging visionary leader and success-focused professional with strong commitment towards achieving and exceeding key performance indicators.

The event was not just a celebration of the Award of doctorate degrees; it was a testament to the unwavering support and love that has been extended by friends and strangers alike. The connections made, the conversations had, and the beautiful memories created resonate deeply with everyone present, leaving a lasting impression that will be cherished for years to come.
