The Institute for Humanitarian Studies and Social Development (IHSSD) has conferred Honorary Doctoral Fellowship Award in Humanitarian services on Pastor Solomon Folorunsho Abumere, Founder, International Christian Centre Home of the Needy, Uhogua in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, where the IDP camp is situated.
Speaking during the special induction and decoration ceremonies Thursday in Abuja, the President and Chairman, Governing Council of the Institute, Ambassador Adamu Babangida Ibrahim, said the award was in recognition of Solomon Folorunsho's contributions to nation building through his numerous humanitarian gestures.
The prestigious event held in Abuja, stood as a testament to the unwavering dedication of individuals and organizations committed to uplifting society’s underprivileged through acts of compassion and generosity.

Home for the Needy under Dr Solomon's visionary leadership, has transcended the conventional definition of Humanitarian services . It has evolved into a potent instrument for uplifting host communities, supporting the underserved and underprivileged, empowering the vulnerable, and contributing to the overall development of the nation and humanity.
For many years, he has demonstrated unswerving commitment to philanthropy by allocating a substantial portion of his financial resources, technical expertise, and intellectual prowess to serve the less privileged and underserved in Nigerian society. His dedication has bestowed hope where it was once scarce and touched numerous lives.
HOME FOR THE NEEDY FOUNDATION, was established in 1992 by Solomon Abumere Folorunsho in Benin City, Nigeria in order to help the needy in the society like orphans, street children, children from broken homes or poor families, widows and internally displaced persons.
Today, the body has provided home and succor to victims of forced migration and internally displaced persons from several parts of Nigeria, caring for more than 4,500 needy. Most of them are children and widows from the North East of Nigeria, who have lost their parents and their homes through the terror group Boko Haram.
In his acceptance remarks, pastor Solomon Folorunsho appreciated the institute for recognising his efforts in leading humanity, expressed satisfaction to continue putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged.
He gave the assurance that the award given to him would spur him to put more effort in rendering humanitarian services.
Reacting to the award as a recipient, Solomon was deeply elated, said " I accepted the accolade because of the people I am taking care up for them to Lean and emulate and to tell the world that you can bring the best out anybody".
He charged the well meaning Nigerians to throw away selfishness, tribalism and put away religion, take care of the lessprevilege one, it will give you satisfaction.
Basking in the euphoria of the moment, Pastor Folorunsho, while addressing a pressmen said, he feels fulfilled seeing the Internally Displaced Persons, who nobody had given any chance in life, succeed, adding that the Home for the Needy Foundation started in 1992 as a nongovernmental, non-profit making organization engaged in providing shelter, education, health services and other welfare service to internally Displaced Persons across Nigeria.
