PW Gimba Alhassan Gets Outstanding Rangers Award As NPS holds 2024 World Ranger Day

IT was a moment of glamour, thrills and frills as PW  Gimbal Alhassan Abubakar honoured with a distinguished  Outstanding Ranger of the year by " the National Park Service (NPS), at the occasion held today to comemorate the 2024 World Ranger Day

The Newsway Africa Media (NWAM) reports that  World Ranger Day is an annual event that honours the vital work that rangers and other frontline staff do to protect the natural and cultural heritages around the world. The day highlights the dedication and courage of rangers who work tirelessly to conserve wildlife and natural habitats. 

The story of PW Gimba Alhassan Abubakar is indeed an interesting one and one laced with adventures right from an early age. The take away from his leadership trajectory is that of sheer determination, dedication and patriotism. For those that knew the vibrant officer, indeed constantly testify to his unflinching love for environmental conservation 

It was learnt that, this Ranger Award to Gimbal Alhassan is in lieu of his great passion for quality service delivery as a man of high repute and hard working, goal oriented individual, who places a great value on his integrity 

This prestigious recognition underscores PW Gimba Alhassan's unwavering committment to excellence, and outstanding leadership, intellectual prowess, and steadfast commitment to furthering the ambitious vision of National Park service 

The conferment ceremony which took place in Abuja being 31st July, 2024, further reinforces Gimbal Alhassan's commitment to excellence and his role as a thought leader in shaping the future of National Park Service 

Wednesday Newsway Africa reports that, National Park Service Headquarters  in Abuja served as the perfect backdrop for this momentous occasion , where esteemed guests like , Balarabe Abbas Lawal, Minister for Environmenta, CG Dr. Ibrahim Musa Goni, joined in the festivities. Their presence added an extra layer of significance to the program as they shared profound insights 

Rangers are  conservation education officers, wildlife extension services, park community relations officers, park interpreters and prosecutors, and researchers. Also, Rangers are nature’s unsung heroes that conserve nature and natural environments in diverse geographical locations and altitude under the vagaries of changing weather conditions and difficult terrains.

Reflecting on his journey,  Gimba Alhassan emphasized the importance of resilience, ambition, and seizing opportunities. From his early years marked by a hunger for education to his unconventional path to becoming the gallant officer at National Park Service.


There is no doubt that, he will excel in this new leadership role. Looking at his Leadership trajectory, his ability to foster collaboration, encourage innovative dialogue and finding common ground will be instrumental in shaping thoughtful and impactful service delivery 

The awards recognise the outstanding work of rangers who gallantly demonstrated dedication and bravery in  protect and conserve natural heritage.

We know that the officers are faced with danger and their lives are being threatened in most places due to the hazards of the job, but Gimbal expressed resilience in the discharged of his duty

While addressing the journalists, he expressed satisfaction as everything was done base on verifiable performance and professionalism. He promised to continue championing the vision of NPS and Vision 30 by 30 . 

He maintained that the reward of hardworking is to do more work.

As the event unfolded, it became evident that this celebration of World Ranger Day  was more than just a milestone; it was a testament to the National Park Service  in building a shared future for Global Biodiversity framework and managing uncertainties and its ability to bring technocrats together in joyous camaraderie. The overwhelming response from the participants, who left the event fulfilled and yearning for more, spoke volumes about the success of the program and the anticipation for future engagements.
