Obudu Council Boss, Egbanabo bags national award, dedicates it to God, Otu
Chief Michael Egbanabo, JP, the Head of Local Government Administration of Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State has dedicated the National Outstanding Council Chairman Award by ROOTSWATCH MAGAZINE to God Almighty and the Cross River State Governor, Sen Bassey Otu.
The award which was conferred on Egbanabo on Wednesday in Abuja, was in recognition of his superlative performance and achievements in the overall development of Obudu Local Government Area in Rural Healthcare and education including restoration of peace and security in the area.
It would be recalled that the organizers of the prestigious award, ROOTSWATCH having assessed all the 774 Local Government Council Areas, as part of the Review Assessment to highlight the relevance of the third tier of government in the country nominated Chief Egbanabo as a recipient of the prestigious award. The team lauded Chief Egbanabo over his sterling performances and justification for the sustenance of the Local Government system as a third tier of government.
The organizers had specifically applauded the HOLGA for the laudable infrastructural projects executed by the Council especially in the provision of sustainable security control measures, construction of Obudu Urban Customary Court, Construction of urban stadium, ongoing Construction of of Civic Center, renovation of the Paramount Ruler office, HIV Awareness Campaign, football tournament for talent hunt and environmental sustainability projects, amongst others.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the ceremony in Abuja, Egbanabo expressed surprise that his modest achievements in the development of Obudu Local Government Area, had attracted such an exalted award, adding that he had no fore-knowledge of it until he was contacted.
According to him, the award is not for him alone, but dedicated to Almighty God first, the Governor, His Excellency, Senator Sweet Prince Bassey Otu, leaders, Elders, staff of the Council and the entire good people of Obudu Local Government Council Area.
