While addressing the journalists at the event, Sunday otori , said , Nigeria is facing leadership woes, stressing the need for quick response. The recent unravelling of more corrupt leaders further accentuates the unending woes that have plagued Nigeria’s governance system.

According to him, an effective leader must grapple with the intricate interplay between leadership, law, and morality. This is the moral obligation and responsibility of leaders to make decisions, act and conduct themselves in an ethical and principled manner. This is so because law and obedience to laws are the most important components of life.

The distinguishing mark of a good leader is impeccable character because it is character that makes people to trust the leader. No one can buy or demand trust, it is given by the people in response to character.

"A leader must be fixed, predictable and stable and this results when leaders understand the relationship between leadership, law and ethics. At the core of ethical leadership lies the recognition that leaders bear a profound responsibility towards their followers, organisations, and society as a whole. This ethical imperative entails making decisions that uphold moral principles, respect human dignity, and promote the greater good. Leaders must navigate the complexities of leadership by constantly evaluating the ethical implications of their actions.

" He  expressed satisfaction especially with the fact that everything was done with professionalism based strictly on merit and verifiable performance. He promised to repose the confidence bestowed on him by the Merit Time International. 

While receiving the award, OTORI said, “I am deeply honoured and humbled to receive the 2024 Merit time International  Award. He thanked everyone and dedicated the award to his

amiable wife and children 

In his response, Sunday said he  was humbled by this  prestigeous award coming at this point of time , noting that this would only spur him to do more for humanity.

"He maintained that, Sometimes when you are focused in your pursuit, you may not know those who are observing until you receive interesting commendations and awards like this from the reputable organization.

The remarkable event took place at the Nigeria National Merit Award House, Maitama, Abuja. The award ceremony, which  witnessed a large crowd of dignitaries, well wishers and subjects of mind like.

Dignitaries at the event were full of praises for the awardee as they said her core values are hard work, integrity, absolute sense of purpose and resilience on devine providence.

According to the coordinator of Merit time International,  Mr. Sunday Okwu said  the honour given to  OTORI Sunday was to promote excellence by encouraging individuals, institutions, organisations and public office holders in various human endeavours.

"He , also said it was an award for leaders with overwhelming records across the  Nation who had distinguished themselves convincingly through quality services to humanity in the country and the continent.
