Renowned permanent secretary, Olusade Adesola bows out of service in grand styles.

The Federal capital territory administration, on Friday January 26th ,2024 celebrated OLUSADE ADESOLA, the permanent secretary FCTA, as he retires from active public service.

The Ceremony was held at the prestigious Chida event center. The event was attended by dignitaries, public servants, Families and friends.

Born on March 18, 1964 to late Pa Rueben B. Adesola in present Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State, South-West Nigeria, Adesola Odusola, who is happily married and blessed with four children, is a proud recipient of the national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger, OON

Olusade in the course of his Career, attended various seminars , workshops and represented Government to the world leadership Conferences and served in different capacities. He will be remembered for his hardworking, diligence and dedication to duty. 
Olusade Adesola is a kind-hearted Leader, who has been of great help to the society and Nigeria at large in every area and without a doubt did a lot for the Nigerian Youths and our sporting system while he was the Permanent Secretary of Youth and Sports Development.

 Under his watch as the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youth and Sports, several other sports were included in Nigeria’s sporting system which also paved way for the involvement of several other Youths whose kind of sports weren’t previously regarded.
While in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs,  and he ensured that the Niger Deltans get their deserved goodwill and he has always been voicing the need to meet the most needful needs of the oil-producing communities.

Friday NEWSWAY gathered from the ceremony that, Sir OLUSADE Adesola is a successful public servant.  one of the major attributes of successful leaders is the sustained capacity to manage diverse human and material resources while ensuring compliance with process, laid down procedure and relevant legal obligation process of attaining organizational goals and objectives, a feat which made Olusade Adesola to being celebrated for unblemished public Career.

The outgoing Permanent Secretary  (FCTA) Mr. Adesola Olusade is a  thorough breed civil servant who is committed to his job, and impacted positively on the lives of others. 

 NEWSWAY learnt that,  Mr. Adesola is equally reputed to have “used his Office to raise the Internally Generated Revenue of FCTA . He introduced and sustained Quarterly Revenue Review meetings in FCTA with revenue generating agencies up to Wednesday January 24, 2024 and the effects can be seen in the marginal revenue increase in the Internally Generated Revenue of FCTA which peaked at over N230 billion at the end of December 31. 2023 when compared to N150b in 2022, N124b in 2021 and N102b in 2020.
“Under these reforms, revenue collection from the Six Area Councils are now harmonized into the FCT-Inland Revenue Service eliminating the need for consultants.”
Operations of the Department of Roads Traffic Services are now digitalized while the new Park and Pay Policy is smoothly on course courtesy of the Permanent Secretary’s Civil Service Reform Initiatives.

furthermore  3000 staff of FCTA have so far received Basic Digital Skills in an effort by the Permanent Secretary to meet the Digitalization efforts of the Administration. By 2025, Government Operations in the FCT are expected to be fully digitalized. This is courtesy of the deliberate Policy Initiative of the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Adesola Olusade who wants every staff to be digitally compliant ahead of the targeted date to completely transform the Civil Service in FCTA.”

Speaking on promotion of staff, reports affirmed that, “Regular Promotion of Staff as at and when due with payment of the Promoted benefits has now become the norm in FCTA with the reform instituted by the Permanent Secretary.

“Before his posting to FCTA as the Permanent Secretary, backlog of Promotion Arrears amounting to Billions of Naira was owed staff. As I write, none of the over 32,000 strong workforce is being owed a dime. 100 Deputy Directors have now been promoted to the rank of Directors after a very highly competitive process.

“Recently a Personnel Payroll Audit was announced by the Permanent Secretary which will be digitally performed with the view to weeding out ghost or non-existent workers in attempts to drastically reduce the monthly wage bill of N8B which the Territory is incurring every month on recurrent expenditures.”
“ It is also on record that Mr. OLUSADE streamlined all contract payment processes to make it easy for anyone who came into the FCT and becomes the Minister or Permanent Secretary to easily understand files that were paid with references, name of the project and level of completion backed up with pictorial evidence and dates.

“National Shopping has not been business as usual since Mr. ADESOLA became Permanent Secretary. He reformed this process by putting in place guidelines that must be put on board to merit National Shopping, a Procurement Term for handling emergency issues in the office that cannot wait for the long tendering process of procurement.”

“Due to the Permanent Secretary’s insistence, the Annual Staff Recognition Award System commenced in FCTA for the first time in the first quarter of this year in line with the Federal Executive Council in 2021. This introduced a healthy competition among staff for awards with concomitant effects on increased productivity that is driving service delivery in FCT.
“Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), a Federal Government’s policy that things should be done in a structured manner which is meant to reduce expenditure on trainings was introduced by Mr. OLUSADE Adesola. So far 17 Departments in FCT are now fully automated and are deploying their SOPs accordingly.

“Through SOPs, the Annual Performance Evaluation Report (APER) will soon give way to the Performance Management Systems (PMS) where each staff will have their job prescription and every quarter, staff and their supervisors will seat down and analyze work done and review work plans for the future. “

Mr.Olusade the outgoing permanent secretary, thanked all the staff and the dignitaries that honoured the sent forth ceremony organized for him by FCTA staff .

In his remarks, the FCTA Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olusade Adesola noted that in the past three years, management staff have made modest contributions to the administration of the FCT on staff development.

ADESOLA promised that soon, the Abuja Rali Mass Transit, known as the Abuja Metro, would return to operation aimed at impacting the cost of transportation on the income of Staff for those on the serviced routes.
His words: “Furthermore, arrangement is at top gear to return the AUMTCO to expanded scale of operations. Plan is also underway to deploy last mile vehicles to help check the challenges of commuting in places where the Mass Transit buses cannot go and thus provide alternative means of transportation to check the menace of the “One Chance” vehicular crime.”

He, however, commended the FCT Minister and Minister of State, for keying into the staff reward scheme; stressing that since the inception of the merit award, the FCTA civil service has witnessed very significant positive developments.

Speaking at the occasion, the FCT Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud,  who was represented by her Senior Special Assistant on Administration and Strategy, Dr Abdullahi Isah Kauranmata, stressed that in every workplace, the heartbeat of success lies in the commitment and hard work of its employees, "described OLUSADE as the hardworking Man.

Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, Acting Director of the Reform Coordination and Service Improvement Department at FCTA,  described the outgoing permanent secretary as the man of his words, hardworking and punctuality to service.

She said, “The retirement marks a new beginning and is not the end of life. It is an opportunity to explore the gifts you are naturally endowed with and enjoy life to the fullest. Take time to nourish your body through proper nutrition, exercise and rest. Don’t engage in any business that you don’t have any deeper knowledge and understanding about. Always remember the world of God, which says Godliness with contentment is a great gain.”
The highpoint of the event was the surprised corporate gift items presented to the outgoing Permanent Secretary for his contributions during his tour of duty.
