Egor/Ikpoba-Okha 2027: Dr. Mashido Osamudiamen Eghaghe Picks NDC Reps Form, Promises Purpose-Driven Representation
By Genesis ogiri
Dr. Mashido Osamudiamen Eghaghe, a reform-minded public affairs advocate and emerging political force in Edo State, has officially picked the nomination and expression of interest forms under the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections.
His formal declaration, which has already begun generating strategic conversations within the political architecture of Edo politics, is being viewed by stakeholders as the emergence of a purpose-driven figure determined to confront institutional decay, democratic inefficiency, and governance failure through legislative activism and people-oriented representation.
Positioning himself as a patriotic voice amid growing national discontent, Dr. Eghaghe stated that the time has come for visionary citizens with competence, courage, and capacity to rise beyond political spectatorship and actively participate in rebuilding what he described as a “deeply fractured system.”
“Patriotic citizens must step forward to fix the rotten system. That is the vision driving my political aspiration,” he declared.
The NDC aspirant, while commending the National Democratic Congress for providing an alternative ideological platform rooted in reformist politics, inclusiveness, and accountable leadership, maintained that the party represents a new frontier for progressive governance and grassroots-centered democracy.
Political observers say the entrance of Dr. Eghaghe into the race further strengthens the growing perception of the NDC as a rising political movement attracting professionals, technocrats, and reform advocates seeking to redefine representation beyond transactional politics.
Delivering a hard-hitting assessment of the nation’s governance structure, Dr. Eghaghe lamented the collapse of strategic institutions, particularly within the education and healthcare sectors, describing the situation as an indictment on leadership failure and policy inconsistency.
“Our institutions are in shambles. The education sector is in shambles, the health sector is in shambles — virtually nothing is working effectively. The people deserve quality representation anchored on accountability, transparency, competence, and responsive leadership,” he stated.
He also condemned the recurring cases of police brutality, abuse of authority, and institutional intimidation against ordinary Nigerians, insisting that legislative reforms must prioritize the protection of civil liberties and restoration of public trust in state institutions.
“There is growing police brutality and widespread frustration among the people. Governance must become humane, responsible, and citizen-focused,” he noted.
Speaking further on the worsening food crisis and insecurity ravaging many communities, Dr. Eghaghe observed that agricultural productivity has drastically declined because farmers can no longer safely access their farmlands due to insecurity and social instability.
“There is food shortage because many citizens cannot go to the farm as a result of insecurity. We must enact laws and develop policies that strengthen security architecture, empower local economies, and guarantee food sustainability,” he said.
Dr. Eghaghe emphasized that his ambition is fundamentally driven by purpose, service, and a commitment to legislative excellence capable of addressing the peculiar socio-economic and infrastructural challenges confronting Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency.
“I am out for effective representation — to strategically address and tailor solutions to the problems of my constituency, while championing better laws that will improve the living conditions of our people,” he affirmed.
With political momentum gradually building around his candidacy, analysts believe Dr. Mashido Osamudiamen Eghaghe’s entrance into the contest signals a potentially defining chapter in the evolving political narrative of Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency, especially among citizens yearning for transformational leadership, policy-driven governance, and credible democratic representation.
